Nicki Minj Research Paper
Nicki Minaj, American Hip Hop artist, worked with Judy Brown, a music producer. Judy Brown just started working with Pusha T. Nicki and Pusha T sung “No Flex Zone” by Rae Sremmurd together, although Judy Brown did not produce that work. After two weeks of her probation period, Judy recommended her new boyfriend, Daniel Vienancio. Daniel was a high-quality producer who was born in Italy and produced in Portugal, whom she agreed to try working with. Judy Brown claimed that Nicki had worked with Daniel before; but Nicki was certain she didn’t know, let alone work with, Daniel. He worked in Portugal and she hadn’t known more than two famous producers from Portugal.
Nicki was excited about the hot temperament of Daniel and signed up a one-year contract with him. She believed that even though Portugal rap is almost unknown to the people, the talent is in performers not the producers. All in all, the singer had no doubts about the new producer’s ability to improve her

To get revenge, she made a copy of all documents on Daniel’s flash drive before the final talk with him. Among those documents, she found a piece for a new track, for a competition which was going to be held next month. She advised Nicki to change the song to a slightly remade version of J. Cole’s future song, in order to hurt Daniel and Nicki.
That night, J. Cole refused to perform during the contest after he heard Nicki's performance. The reason for his refusal was spread like wild fire, and he was accused of plagiarizing Nicki’s work. What no one knew, was that Judy was the one to give J. Coles work to Nicki, in a sad attempt to get Nicki and Daniel caught for plagiarizing. Judy’s plan didn’t work and instead hurt her own client. Judy Brown was later fired by J. Cole when he found out the truth, but the damage was done and J. Coles name was tarnished from that point

In 1984, when Roxanne Shante first came out with the song “Roxanne’s Revenge,” (in response to the hit song on the radio “Roxanne Roxanne”) she dissed the whole UTFO crew, while simultaneously sending the message to other female emcees interested in making a name for themselves that now was the time to step their game up and enter the world of hip-hop. While the eighties seemed to represent an emergence of females in the culture, the nineties proved to be an explosion, with as many as forty-plus female emcees saturating the market at one time. Fast-forward to 2011, and the amount of female emcees has dwindled to a mere fraction of what it used to be, with only one major commercial female emcee to speak of. Enter Nicki Minaj: a five-foot-three-inch, hyper-sexualized, self-proclaimed black Barbie doll, with a wild persona, over-the-top outfits, back-and-forth-between-orgasmic-and-schizophrenic facial expressions, and curves for days (measurements 34-26-45). The fact that she, with her many hypocritical facets- from interview stance, to rap content, to her physical image, remains the only face of the commercially exposed female emcee doesn’t exactly send a positive message. One has to wonder: how did this happen and why is this important to hip-hop and not only future female emcees, but also particularly to young women of color? Recounting the careers of various relevant female emcees, as well as changes in the criteria set forth by major record labels, it becomes apparent that when the societal obsession of hyper-sexualized imagery and capitalism are linked together with an influential art form such as hip-hop, it’s not only detrimental to the movement itself, but especially to young men and women of color as well.…
