Nightcrawler Analysis
Why you pursue something is as important as what you pursue”, the words of a once lowlife who found his peace in an Adrenaline packed, glory seeking mission to capture tape of the most obscene situations in Los Angeles. Played spectacularly by actor Jake Gyllenhaal, Lou Bloom is a trouble and solitary individual whose life takes a dramatic change in the hot movie Nightcrawler. Directed by Dan Gilroy the film thrives in the themes of darkness and morale conflict. The movie follow Lou as he transitions from petty theft into the world of being a Nightcrawler, or a person who films dangerous situations like accidents and crimes so the average Joe can watch it on the morning news. Lou is a man who is usual absent of emotion and fear which makes him dangerous, but also arguably the best man for his profession. In an exciting and cutthroat …show more content…
Jake Gyllenhaal’s portrayal of cold hearted maniac is uncanny, he plays Lou so well it becomes hard to see him as anyone else. Gyllenhaal acted a role that was very dynamically ambitious in its inclusion of Leo Bloom’s different angles. Leo was curious and desperate for social interaction but his ambition carried over into his selfishness. The main character’s cutthroat approach to his dangerous profession at the complete disposal of anyone who gets in his way is what makes the man film so engrossing. He is a sociopath after all, but perhaps this is all that made him so successful. As a single man taking on a whole profession he had no experience about and even eliminating the competition so he would have complete domain. You don't have to like Leo Bloom, but one has to respect his abilities and dedication to his cause. The movie is long at almost two hours, but you wouldn't know it being that it is so good at keeping the viewers interested. Nightcrawler is a suspenseful thriller that keeps the pace up and the viewers in their

“I felt such sympathy for the real life Antwone Fisher”, says John Stone, as he speaks for most people. This story hits home for a lot of people, and after the fact they realize that this was based on a true story. Despite being a true story, John Stone points out the movie has “aimless pace, wooden acting and is emotionally exploitative”. “The movie suffers from its pacing and ambitious reach”, states Mr. Stone, and he goes on to explain it was “predictability timed and {had} cut flashbacks” even though the movie was moving. John Stone was simply wrong whenDenzel Washington was “unable to summon that creativity and imagination to serve his direction”. Denzel Washington played the part of a strict senior officer that’s highly educated and well respected.…

In particular, General Jack D. Ripper character is humorous and his acting is applaudable. Unrealistically, Ripper was able to order a nuclear attack without obtaining permission from the President which is contentious and strange. There are more candidates for his position that are not as derange as he is. Clearly, through the proper procedures and testings, a deranged General wouldn’t have been appointed to that position. The phrase “precious bodily fluids,” stated by Ripper (General Jack D. Ripper; Dr. Strangelove) was also humorous as all organs are precious, but what’s even more precious is the males bodily fluids. Another character I found to be unbelievable is Major Kong. Near the end of the film, no man is as eager or excited to be riding a bomb as it descends from the plane. I found it to be ridiculous, but nonetheless humorous. Even though this film is mainly about an accidentally nuclear bomb heading its way to Russia, the disbelief of the logic of events and the characters themselves have contributed to the enjoyment of watching this…

The horrible accounts of the holocaust are vividly captured by Elie Wiesel in Night, an award winning work by a Holocaust survivor. It describes his time in the Holocaust and helps the reader fully understand the pain he went through. In the text, Elie continuously mentions how he is losing his faith to god. It is evident that he has nearly, if not completely lost his faith during the events of the holocaust. In the memoir, Night, Elie Wiesel’s faith changes because of the absence of God, the dehumanization of the prisoners, and all of the death that surrounds him.…

“Night is purer than day; it is better for thinking, loving, and dreaming. At night everything is more intense, more true. The echo of words that have been spoken during the day takes a new, deeper meaning” Elizer Wiesel. The book “Night” was based on a true story of a holocaust survivor. Elizer and his father Chlomo went from camp to camp, from beating to beating, all for his father to end up dying in the end. I will explain three types of irony that takes place in the story. Firstly, dramatic irony, is Madame Schacter’s warning is an outcry about a fire in their future. Secondly, verbal irony, is the yellow star that symbolizes if one is Jewish. Lastly, situational irony, is after the tragic event of leaving the camp, only to have it liberated…

When we speak of “Morality” we think of the difference between right and wrong, the difference between the good and the evil. We use morality to justify our actions and decisions. More often than not, people impose their morality on others and expect them to act in the way they find fit. They believe that the idea of right and wrong is universal. In her essay “On Morality”, Didion contradicts this theory and believes that everyone can have different ideas of morality based on their own perception.…

Martha Graham’s production of Night Journey is a unique and symbolic contemporary dance work. Graham bases many of her dance pieces on Greek myths and this is seen in her work Night Journey. Graham has manipulated elements of contemporary dance to communicate the emotion of the main character, Jocasta. Graham’s previous work focuses on depicting both the power and struggle of female idols in history. Graham has choreographed Night Journey to explore the perspective of Queen Jocasta, the main protagonist in the piece rather than the story of Oedipus. (Mueller, 2007) Graham has skilfully choreographed significant symbols and motifs to convey Jocasta’s emotions of grief, pain confusion and love through the manipulation of motifs and non-movement components.…

Visualize running miles and miles on end in the cold, only getting a ration of soup and a ration of bread once a day, and getting forced to see people dying left and right. The main character in the book Night by Elie Wiesel had to go through these exact circumstances. The book Night shows Ellie loses hope throughout the book because of these circumstances, in the beginning, he has not much to worry about, and then when he does, he stays hopeful for a while, and then in the middle he starts to question his faith and starts to lose hope, and after the liberation at the end of the book he still has no hope all though it's all over.…

Thus, it’s way more fun to knock this film than to pick out the brief (and I do mean brief) glimmers of light that barely manage to sneak through the dark void that is this unfunny monstrosity. Who the more diminishing actor is - out of Zac Efron, Adam DeVine, Anna Kendrick, and Aubrey Plaza, is clearly a roll of the dice. The acting is exasperating - as is the general film itself. There’s nothing special about the plot, and if there’s only one meaningful thing to take away from this film - it’s that this is a perfect example of how to make a dumb, artless movie. In the end, I implore you to avoid this film - even if you - as I did - thought the movie trailer looked funny. You’ll be doing yourself and your pocketbook a monumental…
