Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, racism promotes a great deal of negative relations and actions between the characters. In the story, In the Heat Of The Night, Virgil Tibbs is associated with racism. Virgil Tibbs becomes a suspect of murder for being out late at a train station and for being black. In the story, To Kill a Mockingbird, Tom Robinson faces racism. Tom gets accused of “sexualy assualting” Mayella Ewel. A great amount of racism is shown in these two stories between the characters and they also share many similarities as racism towards other characters.
