In America, 61% of adults, 14% of adolescents, and 13% of children are considered obese, according to The National Center for Health. That disturbing statistic was one of the later reasons causes why the Food Pyramid was invented. However, high food prices in Sweden was hypothetically the real reason that birthed the Food Pyramid. To fix the issue of overpriced products, Sweden’s National Board of Health and Welfare developed a chart of wholesome foods that provided the nutrients needed while still at reasonable prices, in 1974. A different variety of foods, within the recommended food pyramid, should be consumed daily to support health and welfare. No single food can provide all the nutrients you need. According to health.gov, just feeding off of vitamins do not work as substitutes for genuine sustenance to supply the nutrients required. And although they may help fill in the gaps for lacking protein, they absolutely cannot serve as a sustainable life source. The Food Pyramid suggests different elements of food from different categories, so extra supplements would not be mandatory from the very start. And furthermore, what's not to enjoy about feasting upon a favored meal three times a day? So, jumping back to the main point, simply just that a body cannot tolerate a repeated source of satisfying hunger, and that a variety of sources of which provide disparate types of protein is impossible to be replicated …show more content…
In accordance to livestrong.com, exercise can provide a boosted energy level and help you feel more aware and alert. It will improve your mood, and reduce your stress. The two main ways nearly everyone knows how to stay healthy, the ways people were told to follow since childhood, are exercise and a healthy diet. The Food Pyramid provides that same advice, placing the foods in visual categories with the healthy proteins and the not-so-healthy ones. Cardio activity is just another necessary job to accomplish for reaching the goal of a healthy life.

Some may argue that to stay healthy, merely only one of the two options, exercising or a healthy diet, is needed. But that is not true. Think about this. A person can go running every single day, and furthermore add to that by stretching at home, but by eating two bags of chips and drinking two liters of soda, they are putting all that hard work to waste. Or the other way around. A person can eat, following the strict diet of the Pyramid, and avoiding junk food all the way, but if they stay home all the time and not allow themselves to get some exercise, which choice would eventually
