There are several reasons why people migrate to another region. One of them is because of their economic status. A country that is greatly affected by the economic system is
North Korea. Statistically shown, Its GDP is about 40 billion dollars and the growth is only
3.9% in 2009. It is 1/30 of South Korea’s GDP which is 1164 trillion and the population of
North Korea is 24 million which more than half of South Korea’s population. North Korea’s communism is the biggest push factor for illegal emigrants.
Communism is a social system to create classless and fairness among the citizens.
The basic form of communism is equally dividing the profit of all the workers. Also it does not accept private property. This system led to poor economic status in DPRK because of three main reasons.
The basic reason is due to decline of morale of workers. As people started to notice that they received the same wage, they started to work less. The decrease of willingness or desire to work led to decline of total production negatively affected the whole community.
Another reason for the system to fail is that since DPRK did not accept private property, neither small nor medium-sized businesses were accepted. The role of small and medium-sized business is providing resource, creating middle class, equally dividing development in rural areas and bringing up variety of Ideas and technology. No small or medium-sized business would definitely devastate the economy.
The last reason is that DPRK is using a system called “Juche” which represents independency. They are reluctant to foreign trades and prefers to stand alone. Trades andexchanges are critical because every country is restricted in elements such as resources or labors etc.
