Problem Statement
Razzor Sharpe hair salon is considering opening a new salon is considering opening a new salon in the Greenville area in the next few months. The salon has hired some of the best hair stylist from the upstate of South Carolina. The owner is faced with the problem of deciding which hair care line would be the best to carry in the salon. In an effort to persuade the owner and stylist, vendors will be visiting the salon on a weekly basis offering product samples and weekly specials.

The stylist researched two perspective vendors to determine the best option for the salon. The two vendors researched were Alternative 1, Alicia Lee representing Dudley hair care products and Alternative 2, Frank Milam representing Design Essential hair care products. The criteria used to judge the two alternatives were as follows: price, service, quality and delivery. The research included online research (comparing prices) calling other salons, and testing the products. The evaluation of the two alternatives points out that Alternative 2, Frank Milam with Design Essentials should be recommended. The recommendation shows they offer better pricing, savings of $5.75 - $12.75 for a bottle of shampoo, better promotions for purchasing products, they have a quality money back guarantee and faster delivery …show more content…
To accomplish the objective, I have talked with local salons, compared pricing of products, tested similar competitive products, and compared their service skills.
For a new salon it is critical to monitor money being spent. Pricing has been compared by two different vendors, Dudley and Design Essential hair care two of the best known vendors in ethnic hair care. It is the goal of Razzor Sharpe to get the best value for its money. Comparing the two salons there is competitive difference of savings of $5.75 - $12.75 per bottle of shampoo and conditioner. The salon wants the gain the better value and purchase these bottles in 32 oz. each. Only one vendor was able to offer all shampoo and conditioner in the 32 oz. bottles.
The service criteria was the customer service provided to the stylist and the customers by the sales rep vendors, as well as feedback from other salons. Both vendors have exceptional customer service skills and are very knowledgeable of their products. They are always respectful of the sty list anytime they enter the salon. Each vendor is willing to offer a special promotion if they are chosen as the vendor to service the salon. Dudley is willing to offer a free bottle of styling spray with any bottle of shampoo purchased, a $2.79 value. Design Essential offers 32 oz. bottles in both shampoo and conditioner and
