Nursing Personal Statement
My personal statement is to be why I chose nursing as a career, but in all truth nursing chose me. I’ve already had a caring spirit and always was willing to help others, but the mathematics to get me to this career was already mapped out. Nurses run in my family and I just so happen to live with a registered nurse, my aunt. She works night shifts and when she would come home and talk about her cases, a burst of excitement lights up my heart. I knew I was bound to go into such a fantastic field. Hearing the action made me want to learn and depict nursing as a person. Nursing is so broad that once you have your BSN you can choose and do training for anything you want to become. I would love to start out as a neonatal nurse then get my masters …show more content…
Everyone does have weaknesses and flaws, but life is all about learning and aiming for the impossible target of perfection. One of my weaknesses is not knowing how to balance all of my subjects. I tend to zero in on one subject and put the others on the back burner. Another one of my weaknesses is procrastination, only in some instances. If it’s a paper, I will procrastinate, a test for a back burner subject, I will procrastinate studying until 2 days before or sometimes the day before. If it is my focus class I will put the time in to study a little bit one day and work up until the test. Again that’s where my balance for everything is off. I still manage to pull off and make a good grade, but if I had put in more time than my effort would increase and so would my grade. My strengths outweigh my weaknesses. I’ve noticed when I see that I am not understanding or grasping a concept I don’t hesitate to ask questions. I’m not a shy person so developing relationships with my professors is no problem. I will attend SI’s and office hours religiously. Another strength I have is I’m a very focused. I know what I want and know what it takes to get

Nursing, in my opinion, is one of the most significant professions that one can be blessed to acquire. To those who pursue this field know it is a career that requires far more than simply an education even though the knowledge acquired from a degree is extremely important and necessary, by grasping rationale of the laws and regulations that rule nursing. A career in nursing requires someone to have compassion, sympathy, and care for others, especially those who are suffering from pain, illness and lack the understanding of what is happening to them or a loved one. It is a career of humanity, and it is this that first attracted me to a Masters degree in Nursing. My philosophy about nursing is that it is a career that one has to work hard for, but also a career that a person needs to have to a natural affinity for. I also believe one must have a commitment to helping others not expecting anything in return but a smile and knowing when you go home you gave your all. The ability to be a compassionate, caring nurse is what I hope to bring to the Masters degree in Nursing Program, gaining…

Alpha Mansaray Family Nurse Practitioner Program Wilmington University Statement of Goals As a child growing up in country of Sierra Leone during times of civil unrest, I watched my grandmother who lacked the ability to read and write care of an entire village of people because of the compassion she had for she fellow Africans. As she is much older now and no longer resides in Sierra Leone, she always reminds me of her story every now and then of how a young African girl without the ability to read or write was chosen by the U.N. and trained in the field of nursing, and with the amount of knowledge she acquired from them she was able to save countless lives during times of civil war. This passion has been passed down from generation to generation with my mother becoming and nurse and I, myself following in their footsteps and becoming part of the profession. There has always been a yearn within me to enter a profession such as nursing where I could provide compassionate care to those that may be going through uncertain times, and to one day return to Sierra Leone and have the ability to provide care to thousands of my fellow Africans that may not have access to healthcare.…

I chose nursing as my profession because nursing is an integral part of who I am. I have always known I wanted to be a nurse. To care for people in need with compassion and empathy. When I was young I would make makeshift hospitals and treat any animal could get my hands on. I have always been fascinated by anatomy and physiology, so far as to operate and dissect on worms when I was younger. When I accidentally found my way into perioperative nursing I felt that I had found my calling.…

“Quack! Quack!” she exclaimed. “Yes it is bath time!” I replied as I gave my patient her nightly bath at my very first job as a nursing assistant for disabled adults. I remember initially being so excited to learn new procedures, medications and diseases. However, what I ultimately valued most during this experience was forming trusting, ongoing relationships with my patients (and learning that “Quack” meant bath!). The inimitable bond formed caring for these individuals motivated me to seek out a career in which I can provide meaningful and personalized care over time. Advanced practice nursing as a family nurse practitioner will allow me the opportunity to provide primary care services to individuals with chronic conditions beginning in childhood…

There have been many occasions in my life that I have spent time in hospitals, nursing homes and by the side of a sick relative. When my grandfather was dying of cancer, he spent as much time as he could at home with his family by his side and when the time came, he was transferred to hospital, I was 14 at the time, still very young I knew it was not about how I was feeling, this pain was his and my grandmothers. I helped look after him for the two years he was diagnosed and it was during that time, I knew where my heart was and that was nursing. With my own experience of being in and out of hospital with two complicated pregnancies, I was in awe of the nurses and midwives who did everything they could to make me feel secure and safe, I was inspired and made an already certain career choice, even more evident.…

Everyone has strenghts and weaknesses during there academic time. I also have strenghts and weaknesses in my academic time. The strengths that I have is that i am always on time at college, I am never late for any of my classes. Also my strenghts during my college time were my psychology classes except biology which was my weakness because my biggest weakness is to memorize and study. It's really hard for me because it becomes really hard for me to remember something for a test. But on the other side I feel that I am really strong in my class presentation. When i entered college I felt my greatess weakness was to go infront of the class and do a presentation but after some time in college i felt that I was becoming better and better after performing infront of the class. It became one of my strenghts today which I am really happy about it. My other weakness was to read all my assignments on time especially books that i hated reading. This was also one of my weaknesses, i always almost read all my books or assignments at the last point which made me extremly stressed because everything i did was at the last minute, but as the semesters passed by I always tried to to my assignments not on the last minute but way before my hand in time which became on of my strenghts once again.…
