The foreign movie I chose for the film analysis individual report was a Swedish movie named The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009). This movie was about a journalist, Mikael Blomkvist and a young female hacker, Lisbeth Salander who teamed up to search for a woman, Harriet Vanger who was missing or dead for the past forty years. The movie begins with a scene in which an older man is crying at the receipt of framed flowers. This man is described to be a billionaire named Henrik Vanger, Harriet Vanger’s uncle who explains that Harriet disappeared from a family gathering on Children’s Day about forty years ago off of Vanger’s estate located Hedeby island near Hedestadt, several hours from Stockholm, Sweden. Although, the police reports indicate that the body was never found, her uncle is convinced that Harriet was murdered and that the killer is a member of his very own “tightly knit but dysfunctional” family. This represented most Swedish families as Sweden is a relationship-oriented society. Henrik hires Lisbeth and Mikael to further investigate the case. They soon begin to link Harriet’s disappearance to a number of monstrous murders that were committed which are later linked to biblical passages from the book of Leviticus. (Kuehl 1990)

In the way we count time we go to 60 but in other ways we go to 100. 50 is halfway between 5 and 6 if we measure length, weight, money, or anything else but time. In time halfway between 5 and 6 is 30. Also, when you learn to count you go from 0 to 9, it is very systematic and once you learn it you never forget. Time is different because the base number is 60.In the way we count time we go to 60 but in other ways we go to 100. 50 is halfway between 5 and 6 if we measure length, weight, money, or anything else but time. There were two presidents in office during this era. William Howard Taft, the 27th president, was in office from 1909 to 1913.During Taft's term everyone compared him to Roosevelt, the previous president, and would always criticize his ways. People always talked smack about how he supported big business, although no one ever mentioned how he was the first president to protect federal lands on oil had been found. Also how he protected coal infested lands. Some people may say that he was a bad president because he kept the government from enforcing the 15th Amendment, which gives black people the right to vote.…

In his book A Shopkeeper’s Millenium, Paul E. Johnson tries to analyze the conditions under which religious revivals occur. Focusing on Rochester New York, he examines Charles Finnley’s revival in the 1830s and the state of the city before, during, and after the revival. Ignoring much of what has already been written about the event, Johnson uses almost entirely primary sources to argue his point. His point is that the religious revival of 1830 was, at least in Rochester, a successful attempt by the town’s elites to retain control over the rest of society, which they felt was slipping away.…

I have always been fascinated by Schizophrenia. I thought it was such an interesting disorder, you watch movies on it, and about it but when you are actually reading about it thats when you get the full affect of it. It is so crazy how the brain is powerful enough to make someone believe they are someone else or be able to shut off a part of it. It is so sad though for those who have it, not being about to control your own body would be terrible. This disorder however is one of the reasons I would love to get more into psychology and maybe find a career in it.…
