As I did the Learning Style Graph it came about that when I'm in school I'm more of an observer. That would be very true, I feel as if I observe I learn faster and I understand more of what was said inside the classroom. Therefore, it will help me understand the assignments that are given to me. The reason I observe first is because once i get done observing , I plan things out and then I take the time to make sure I fully understand the topic. When I observe it guides me on passing my test, homework assignments and projects. Everyone has there own method of learning. In my opinion I think observing is the best way because, it helps you understand the concept of the topic. As I watch the instructor as she explains word by word, on a chapter we are currently learning about it helps me and guides me so that I plan ahead and know what i have to do for the assignment that will be given to us. I never feel lost or stuck where I'm sitting with a blank face on saying to myself "what did the teacher just say"?. Of course you are going to have a question or two thats fine , you always want to be sure. Teachers like when you ask them questions it shows them you were paying attention. My theory is you learn faster when you observe and when things are hands on. Everyone has there own way of learning , not everyone is the same. Observation is to become familiar with the insiders to refine and subsequent observation and data collection. It has become aparent to me in the past few months that most people are not really thinkers, but are more observers .One who doesnt understand their learning style is never really learning. Observing and learning is the concept to everything we do in this life. Actively recording thoughts and information learned is the most imortant thing in retaining knowledge and information. This is why I think its better for me to be observing in class because I also pick up things

Many times, one tend to study the way their peer do but often does not get the same result as others. By truly understanding oneself and how you take in and give out information best, it will help enforce and improve a person to be the most efficient learner and teacher you can be. Everyone is unique and it is the most important to remember that in order to make sure every lesson is an effective one. Now if I were to answer the same question I would say that I learn better when I am able to see the behavior being preformed. When I read about the behavior I tend to lose interest and I have a hard time visualizing what is actually supposed to be done. It also takes me longer to learn the behavior if I read it rather than when I am able to see it being preformed and am possibly able to try to perform it myself.…

My OR day consisted of a hernia repair, a colonoscopy, and a hemorroidectomy. The role of the surgeon was to come in and perform the surgery. The anesthesiologist induced anesthesia, and monitored the patients heart and respirations and other vitals during the surgery. They also bring the patient out of anesthesia and extubate them. The circulating nurse job was to monitor during surgery and make sure the patient is safe, and to call the patients family during and after the surgery. The circulating nurse also goes to the pre-op holding area and assesses the patient prior to surgery and brings them into the OR. The surgical technicians job is to assist the surgeon during the procedure and hand him the required tools needed. They also count before and after the surgery to make sure all tools are present and accounted for. The PACU nurse role was to monitor the patient’s vitals and pain after surgery and to administer any medications. They also monitor the patient’s arousal after surgery and the surgical site for any possible complications. The first surgery I saw was a hernia repair. The surgeon made a 6-8 inch incision in the abdomen and repaired a recurrent hernia in the small intestine. He then put in a mesh to keep everything in place. General anesthesia was used for this procedure and the patient was intubated and tolerated/woke up well. Betadine skin prep was used and general draping techniques were used. In PACU the nurse observed the patients level of consciousness and pain level. She also monitored the drainage from the wound and the wound site, and vitals. The second procedure I saw was a colonoscopy accompanied by a hemorroidectomy. First the surgeon did the colonoscopy by lubricating and inserting a tube with a camera into the anus and up through to the opening of the stomach. A screen was available to let the surgeon see what he was doing and if any problems were inside the intestines. The second thing the…

My personal learning style is doing. I learn best from the hands on approach of getting in to a topic or job and attempting to complete it on my own. This allows me to see my mistakes and not have them be prevented before they happen, which allows me to note the problem and fix it. I find it much harder to learn using concrete experience and reflective observation. The fact that both these styles are much harder for me to learn from effects my overall learning style because of how I learn, just watching someone else complete a task is not enough for me to learn by.…

According to the text, descriptive research is defined as a type of method in which a researcher or public official closely observes someone. With the data collected, they can then describe what is being observed without interrupting how the person is behaving. In relation to the topic of school shootings, the researcher would have to take into consideration many different aspects. The time frame leading up to the crime and after is a very crucial point in the case. The researcher would have to find out the intent behind why the person decided to commit the crime. Also, did the individual have any serious mental health issues, family problems, a victim of bullying, or any type of discrimination.…

Doing an observation of someone you kind of have this idea in the back of your head of what kind of job he has. I realized that the image you have in your mind really is just what the everyday person sees. While I observed Keith Lytle I figured I would just see the same normal stuff that I see all the time when on the baseball field. I was wrong in so many ways. Keith not only has to break down the swings of the hitters on the team and put them through drills so make sure their swing is where it needs to be; he also works with the position players as well on the fielding aspects on the game. Once he was done with the practice side of things, Keith went into his office and started making some phone calls to see if there were any kids who were on his list who were interested in attending the program for next season. After the phone calls had been made he went outside to what we on the team would call his second car. He started up the lawn mower and began mowing the field, which he does every single day.…

Conformity is behavior change designed to match the actions of others. During my research, I found many examples of conformitive behavior. I often related conformity to adolescents due to the fact that they usually do their best to try and fit in when it comes to group settings. This type of behavior can be seen in college students attending educational facilities away from home. Those that are in dorms tend to indulge in drinking even if they aren’t “big drinkers”. They do this to conform to that of others and to be included in the fun and try and fit in. One last example that I will discuss prior to getting into my own observation, was the study that was done my Crandall in 1988 which examined normative social influences involving bulimia in college sororities. Sororities are the true definition of conformity and those that don’t conform are usually not allowed to continue to pledge. In the particular sororities that were examined, Crandall found that it had its own norm when it came to the “right” amount of food to eat and the popularity within the sorority was associated with adhering to this norm. Those that wanted to be a part of the sororities needed to conform to the “norm” and fell into a bulimic state. These girls had to of known this was not healthy for them yet they wanted to continue to become of part of this group and follow the “norm” that was set out. To me, this is just ridiculous.…

Working within our human behavior and social environment class this year, I expected to learn a lot about the behavior of many adults and a lot about the social environment around us. I was surprised to know that we would learn about the process that adolescents take to begin to understand the world. Learning and observing the process involves taking a look the different stages in the development milestone. On December 6, 2013 from 12:30 to 2:30, I visited the child development center to observe a child’s developmental milestone behavior. The child I observed was a four-year-old, Caucasian female with short blonde hair and glasses. Observation of the child’s motor skills showed that she was very active and physical and did lots of running and skipping. She displayed many leadership skills such as showing the other kids where to put their coats and also ensuring that they all washed their hands after putting their coats away. This sort of behavior is appropriate for a child her age. As I examined her motor skills I also took at how she plays and how she plays with other children. I noticed that she liked to play with toys that you could construct and put together such as building blocks and play dough. She played with only one other child at a time and seemed to stray away from playing with the boys. During my visit the class was having show and tell and my child displayed her favorite teddy bear. The bear was grey with pink eyes and matching pink bow. She had a huge smile on her face as she spoke about her bear and who gave it to her. I then noticed her allowing the other kids in her group to hug and play with her favorite toy. That displayed to me very good trust and sharing skills because she allowed the other kids to play with her bear and also trusted that they would respect him. This sort of play is appropriate for a child her age especially with her being able to share.…

When I conduct observations, I notice that the angry young woman makes efforts to restrain her anger and does not shout at the man. If she were at home, she would not have been so restrained. The restaurant is a public space and interactions in restaurants are conditioned by manners and customs (Yan, 2005). When dining out, people need to act in accord with the environment. It is absolutely impolite to shout in public places. However, the restaurant is a casual rather than formal dining place and makes people relaxed and comfortable.…

Growing up, I was never that girl that fantasized about becoming a princess and meeting that special prince that would sweep me off my feet and save me from all misery. Even sorcery books such as the Harry Potter series did not appeal to me. I did not believe in any of that quirky fantasy land stuff so the idea of being dragged to the Michigan Renaissance Festival with my family over Labor Day weekend did not appeal to me; I would have much rather been out having fun in the sun barbequing with friends just as any other American typically celebrates the holiday. Staring out the car window all I saw was cornfields and the occasional Ma and Pa family owned restaurant or ice cream parlor. Mt. Holly came into view a little further down the road, but the slopes were dry and scarce due to it being summer. Tucked behind all the forestation was a small fairground where police orderly directed cars into the lot. The parking lot, overwhelmingly large in size, branched in two directions. One led to a general area and the other took cars single file down a long and winding path. This brought butterflies to my stomach. License plates were country wide varying from fellow Michiganders to visiting guests from neighboring states such as Indiana and Ohio and some traveling from as far away as Florida or Kansas. Once we secured our designated spot and our legs were fully stretched after sitting stationary for the hour drive we merged with the herd of people and marched together through the forest to discover this new unknown world.…
