Observation In Child Development

A definition of a child is a young human being below the age of puberty or below the legal age of majority. In this unit, the child development unit we were told to observe and record the behaviors of a child of our choosing. Every child is unique and different, each child will grow at different rates and paces due to their surrounds and environment. Although many theories have ideas and theories of stages these children should be placed in. I spent 3 days an hour each to watching Sam Eder. Sam is an 8 year old girl.As to be expected as a young girl, Sam wore a dress and had her hair braided. She had her nails painted and wanted a makeup kit for christmas. Sam has a very lively personality. Although she can be very cheerful Sam got very upset
at little things when she did not get her way. For my 3 days she played with her sister. Sam’s sister is named Rachel. Sam is the older sister, she picks on Rachel quit a bit but you are still able to tell her charismatic personality. Her and Rachel are very close, they giggle and play together everyday. On the first day I met Sam I could already infer she was shy until she got to know you and warm up a little. Right away Sam and Rachel were playing dance competition. They had scores written down on pieces of blank paper to hold up after each other's dance was finished. That last about 5 minutes until their short attention span was moved to something more interesting.
Condensing meeting, learning and getting to know Sam in these 3 days made it difficult to get a full understanding of what a typical 8 year old girl's life is like. Although to help me to get better knowledge on a average 8 year old we can take a look at different theories and Studies. I Took what I believed was the best theories and choose them to research for my better understanding of Sam.
