Observation Of Mrs. Perez Classroom
Today I was placed in Mrs. Perez classroom which consists of toddlers ages three and four. Considering that it was a nice day outside the lead teacher, Mrs. Perez instructed the two assistants and an aide as well as an older teenager who I believe was a volunteer to take the children out to enjoy it. She mentioned to me she wanted to take advantage of the extra help she had so she can get going on some activities she was trying to get together. I offered to stay in and help this time instead of following to observe the children at play. She just asked me to do basic stuff like many copies of papers that had huge letters on it with some sort of cartoon next to it (Queen for Q, R for rat and S for Sun I recall) and cut out some letters shapes.

I approached the teacher before their next lesson and explained how the children took time to process instructions and that if they were laughing and joking about it would take afew minutes to calm down and get focused on what was required next. The teacher glared at me and then very sharply told me not to tell her how to do her job. I was mortified .I explained i was just trying to point out how they reacted and felt when she shouted at them for not instantly stopping and getting on with the next task. I apologised if she felt i had offended her. At the end of the lesson, she came over and said she was sorry for over reacting, and now realised i worked with them more than she did, and actually had a point, and she would allow time for them to settle. I feel that by me not getting into a confrontation with her made a lot of difference, and we was able to sort the problem out sensibly.…

I observed Mrs. Ball’s 7th grade science class at Helen Tyson Middle School on Thursday November 5, 2015. The classroom had a great climate and was decorated with interesting scientific educational material. She had the desks set up in organized rows with two kids per table. This set up allowed for less interaction between the kids because they were so spaced out, which seemed to keep them on task. The dynamics in the classroom were great. She connected well with each student and was interested in what they had to say. She was very in control of the class and the students seemed to respond well to her. The students interacted pleasantly with one another and were were all very welcoming. They came into class, sat down, and got right to work.…

The third observation was during language arts and reading period. The students were reviewing subject and predicate using sentences from a workbook. Mrs. Yglesias would copy a sentence from the workbook onto the pyrethrum board. Then she would choose a student to read the sentence and select the subject. Straightaway, she would underline the student’s answer on the board with a red marker. Subsequently, the teacher would choose a different student to reread the sentence and identify the predicate. Again, immediately the teacher would double underline the predicate of the sentence on the board with a green marker. Mrs. Yglesias once more used the tactics of alternating ELL students and English speakers to participate answering questions. The…

In the first video at John Smith Middle school, on Friday, April fifteenth at 12 pm, the classroom observed was in Mrs. Blue’s middle school class. This class was not as ethnically diverse; there were only Caucasian and Hispanics visible. From what was shown there were eleven boys and ten girls. In the second video at Luther High school, on Wednesday, April thirteenth at 11 am, was Mr. G’s high school class. This was a larger ethnically diverse class, with ethnicity ranging from, African American, and Hispanic. There were relatively ten boys and eight girls.…

“Ms. Teresa. I would like to let you know that I really love to work with you. You are a very friendly and responsible. I sincerely appreciate your support all the time, especially for coming early to setting up the classroom. I understand you would like to leave 15 minutes early in the afternoon since you come 15 minutes early in the morning. I am not sure that you noticed that the ratio set at the center for the room is 1 to 3. I was worried about the children’s safety since I was all by myself with four children at that time. I wonder if you have any suggestion that we could solve this problem together.” (Wait for Teresa’s…

Because I am all the time surrounded by children, I can assist the children and understand their learning needs.(K.U 1.1) My prior job inside the classroom is to listen to the children, respect and value them. Even though I haven 't been working for too long with them, the pupils in my classroom already gained respect and confidence in me, and I can see how slowly, with my help and of course, the teacher 's , they are gaining the sense of independence, which is extremely important for a child developing. I 'm helping by ensuring they have access to the curriculum at all the times, and by using plenty of praise and rewards. I make sure that all the children participate fully in every lesson, by reminding them of teaching points made by teacher and help them organise and participate in appropriate…

Perez at the park really helped Ms. Cortes out. She did not have to take all the boys to the bathroom at once and his presence helped, when Nicholas and Messiah stopping letting the other children go down the slide. When he asked them move, they did not. So he took them off the slide. When the boys were trying to run out of the play area, he chased them back. These are things that I have noticed Ms. Cortes will not do. There is a balance with Ms. Cortes and Mr. Perez’ parenting skills. She does not want to discipline children. Mr. Perez on the other hand does not mind.…

I was sat with the teacher one morning before the children came into school because that is when we do our planning for the child I support or we modify anything that he has to be supported with in class. I noticed that the teacher had planned an arts and craft lesson that involved the use of tissue paper, the child that I support does not like the touch or feel of tissue paper (I had done an activity with him the other week which had resulted in him refusing to anything…

walked into the first class that I have ever took and confronted chaos. The four students in my Spanish class were engaged in a heated spitball battle. They were all following the lead of Andrew, a tall eleven-year-old African-American boy. Andrew turned to me and said, "Why are we learning Spanish if no one speaks it? This a waste of time."…

I replied that I was uncomfortable with the approach because Matthew adores his teacher and it was not my intention to ruin the relationship over homework which he has always found difficult. I decided to speak to Matthew's teacher, Mr. Washerman, after the meeting while waiting to pick up the children from school. I explained that I was an instructional assistant who worked with children who had behavior difficulties and had found some successful strategies for doing less than desirable work. He agreed that I can modify homework as I see fit as long as Matthew is practicing his vocabulary and math. I must admit it was a pleasure meeting him and I am great full for his understanding. However, I found Mrs. Plack's aforementioned conduct during this meeting out of line and her lack of preparedness a bad reflection on the special education department within Marlbrough elementary school. Consequently, this is not how I wished to start the 2016-2017 school year, but I feel if not addressed immediately that this conduct would continue throughout the school year. Ultimately I believe this would lead to Matthew's education becoming negatively impacted due to the unscrupulous behavior and lack of professionalism displayed in this…

In working with children in the after school activity program , I have five children which are eight years old that come on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for academic and social interaction skills. When the children first arrive for the first hour we work on their academics within a group. For the last hour we work on their social skills, working on crafts, playing games, and going outside to play outdoor games. On a sunny Monday morning I decide to take the children out for free play to watch how they interact with one another. Miranda one of the little girls within the group comes over to me crying. When I asked her what was wrong she stated that two of the other little girls named, Kiana and Vanessa will not play with her due to she does not look like them. I feel this is due to Miranda being of a different ethnic group as Kiana and Vanessa.…

Once again, I was placed in Mrs.Metcalfe who teaches second grade at Bens Branch Elementary. Mrs.Metcalfe took attendance while the students waited patiently on the carpet. After she took attendance, she addressed that she had taken some privileges away from the students because the students did not picked up their mess after having centers and would not follow instructions that the teacher gave. She explained that centers might return for the upcoming school year if they behaved properly. After she addressed the issues of the students, she instructed everyone to go back to their desks and waited till they put their thumbs which meant that they were ready for the lesson of the day. Mrs.Metcalfe went up to the front of the class to use the projector and expected her students to follow what she was doing on their worksheets.…

    Story of Childhood

With the smell of paint in the air, I enter every five year olds fantasy. Toys of all shapes and sizes scattered around the play area, the soft spoken words of story time given by a friendly face, stains from spilt glasses of grape juice that overrun the carpet, and endless numbers of shelves that envelope any remaining space on the walls. This could only be described as my daycare, Sunshine Oaks. While we all crowd around the teacher, mesmerized by the tale about pirates, the story comes to an end. We get settled down and lead into the nap area where we all know what is our fate. Many moans and retaliation come from everyone, but we unwillingly follow the request of our loving friend, Mrs. Kat. With the help of persuasion, she gets everyone to dose off into the unknown where our imagination is let loose and no longer bound by the power of reality or looked down upon because you didn’t “have a dream that was good enough.” Mrs. Kat, our loving babysitter would do anything under the sun for her students. She would give encouragement to do better, kiss our scraped knee after an accident on the play ground, or even sing us to sleep if we were missing our parents. This was someone who I looked up to. If you think about it, teachers have as much of an impact on their students lives as the child’s parents. On average every kid spends about 6 hours a day with different teachers who have most likely been raised with different morals. These adults are responsible for a third of the type of person your child is going to become.…
