Observation Of School Lunches In The Classroom
Yesterday Oct. 31 I spoke with Mrs. Lane about Sheyenne and some others girls not being nice to each other at lunch I told her I had talked with each of them and found that they were both picking at each other. Today Nov.1 Mrs. Lain came to school and wanted to have lunch with her daughter she did not eat with her rather she wandered around the outside area observing our students. Mrs. Lane came to the office after lunch to tell me that she saw students not being nice to each other and that on more than one occasion a student had asked her what she was doing and she told them just observing. She told me that one student asked if she was recording them and she told them no. I asked and she told me know. She also told me that she had talked with the yard duty. …show more content…
She told me that she would be coming back to have lunch with her daughter to keep an eye on her at lunch. She left and came back told me that she was calling the district office about what was going on, it was at this point I thanked her for letting us know what was happening but in the fruiter I would appreciate her eating lunch with her daughter in the lunch areas and not wondering around the campus. She then began to question why she could not. I let her know that it was causing some stress in some of our students. She then told me that she knew for a fact that she was not the only parent going to the district with concerns about bullying. She also let Karina know that she was going to call channel 7

Juliana has been attending school however, spends much of the school day in the office because she is unable to stay in the classroom for greater than 30 minutes. On 5/5/2017, I was called by Ms. Kathleen Seward, Principal at the West Somerville Neighborhood School. Ms. Seward reported she called the Crisis Team to come to the school as Juliana was "out of control" and had attempted to lock herself in a locker, and when approached assaulted a staff member. Juliana was evaluated and was sent home. Due to this incident , the School placed a para-profession in the classroom with Juliana as the school is concerned for her safety.…

I approached the teacher before their next lesson and explained how the children took time to process instructions and that if they were laughing and joking about it would take afew minutes to calm down and get focused on what was required next. The teacher glared at me and then very sharply told me not to tell her how to do her job. I was mortified .I explained i was just trying to point out how they reacted and felt when she shouted at them for not instantly stopping and getting on with the next task. I apologised if she felt i had offended her. At the end of the lesson, she came over and said she was sorry for over reacting, and now realised i worked with them more than she did, and actually had a point, and she would allow time for them to settle. I feel that by me not getting into a confrontation with her made a lot of difference, and we was able to sort the problem out sensibly.…

Recently there has been revisions to the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and schools were required to overhaul their entire menus to provide the students with healthy and nutritious foods including fruits and vegetables. The new school lunch rules are part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 which has been implemented this fall. (Post Standard) The Hunger Act allows the USDA the opportunity to make reforms to the school lunch and breakfast programs. With these revisions come strict guidelines from the federal government that each school district must follow in order to receive funding and reimbursement (National School Lunch Program, 2012, August p. 1). In this essay i will be comparing the positive and negative effects of these recent revisions to the NSLP. I will then discuss whether or not these changes are beneficial to the children receiving the meal and whether NSLP is leaving children hungry or helping children make healthy food choices.…

Hello, I am your daughter, Sabra's, English teacher. I wanted to take the time to enlighten you about her class room behavior and how disrespectful she can get towards me. Don't get me wrong, Sabra is not always discourteous. She has her days where she can be a model student in class and in others she can be my worst nightmare. For the last couple of weeks, Sabra has been coming to class to sleep. When I address her to wake up, she would give me an attitude or curse at me. She says marching band is the blame for her sleeping in class. If marching band is getting in the way of her education, I believe she should reconsider her choice about being in the band. I have informed you in the past about her poor grade in my class. It's as if she doesn't try to attempt and make an effort to do the material I present to the class. I would appreciate it if you have a talk with your daughter about her classroom etiquette and how to appreciate teaching staff on a day to day basis. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my letter and take into consideration the concerns I have with your daughter.…

School lunches lack healthy nutrients that growing children and teens need. Because, schools lack the proper funding needed to support students with healthy lunches, students have a horrible diet. A lot of people, including myself, believe that if healthy school lunches were provided students at home would make better choices when it came to what snacks they ate between meals. If schools got better funding for healthier lunches it could theoretically save the government more money because the students in turn would have less health problems.…

At 1:00 p.m. I entered into Evoline C. West Elementary school on Thursday, July 12 2012 for an interview with Mrs. Yolanda Lawrence. As I entered the classroom, I was greeted by Mrs. Lawrence, the head teacher in this classroom. Mrs. Lawrence has no assistant at this present because of it being in the summer. After I entered into the classroom, the entire class welcomed me with “hello Ms. Flournoy”. It made my day to see all of those smiley faces greeting me. This was a 2nd grade classroom which consisted of 17 students of which 8 were girls and 9 were boys. This interview and observation was a total of 2 hours long. During the observation of Mrs. Lawrence classroom, I noticed how the students flocked under Mrs. Lawrence as she started reading one their favorite books before they did their afternoon lesson. For some reason I got an excitement about doing this interview.…

I replied that I was uncomfortable with the approach because Matthew adores his teacher and it was not my intention to ruin the relationship over homework which he has always found difficult. I decided to speak to Matthew's teacher, Mr. Washerman, after the meeting while waiting to pick up the children from school. I explained that I was an instructional assistant who worked with children who had behavior difficulties and had found some successful strategies for doing less than desirable work. He agreed that I can modify homework as I see fit as long as Matthew is practicing his vocabulary and math. I must admit it was a pleasure meeting him and I am great full for his understanding. However, I found Mrs. Plack's aforementioned conduct during this meeting out of line and her lack of preparedness a bad reflection on the special education department within Marlbrough elementary school. Consequently, this is not how I wished to start the 2016-2017 school year, but I feel if not addressed immediately that this conduct would continue throughout the school year. Ultimately I believe this would lead to Matthew's education becoming negatively impacted due to the unscrupulous behavior and lack of professionalism displayed in this…

Sarah refused and said “ I take care of children all the time and I am not doing this right now!” Not only did she have attitude but it really affected me and made me think why is someone who wants to be in child care for a career refusing to watch these kids for a couple minutes when she is not busy at all. When I left that day I knew what I needed to do, even though I know mom would be against me going to Cobleskill but I did it any way. This week I had an opportunity to go mentor on Friday October 22nd and on Monday October 25th. I was really excited to go on Friday because I did not have a chance to mentor last week due to my hectic midterm schedule. However, right when I stepped into the classroom couple of kids told me that Andrea was out sick. I was really disappointed because I wanted to ask her some questions about her family and talk to her about the book that we were going to make together. Since Andrea was absent, Ms. Silva wanted me to help the kids out on couple of grammar worksheets that they were working on. First, Ms. Silva led a math discussion. They were starting to learn basic algebra. Some of the students were starting to get confused because now there were letters involved in a math equation. Also, some of the equations were difficult because the kids were not getting the concept or haven’t mastered their times table yet. After math time was over, Ms. Silva started to work with the reading groups. While she did that, I went around the classroom to help those who were struggling with their worksheet. They were mostly working on contractions and synonyms. This was a good exercise because they…

I now have the opportunity to eat lunch with two female students. This is because one of these students is unable to eat in the cafeteria. She is able to bring a friend and play games which is nice. I enjoy this time. They usually start eating and playing their game without me because I have recess duty. As soon as I walk in they always say something like “You were gone do long! Or it’s about time you got here!” This lets me know that they enjoy my company and talking with me. However the very first day one of the girls told me that they had a split personality and her other personality was comparable to a serial killer. As soon as their lunch was over I told Molly and Angela. Angela decided to call home and talked to her mother. After that I’m not sure of what was said. When I was hearing this little girl say this I was unsure…
