Ocean Descriptive Writing
The sun was shining, the wind flowing through the air, and the waves were crashing onto the shoreline. The seagulls were roaming around trying to search for nourishment. As I step into the Atlantic Ocean I feel the sand between my toes and the water streaming around my body. I gazed at the horizon. The only thing I could see was the luminous sun and blue sky. The brisk water proceeds up my legs and to my torso as I stroll into the water. I submerged into the water and opened my eyes. All I could see was a blue-green ray of blurriness. I appeared out of the water and flipped my sopping, wet hair back and combed my hand through it. I saw back to shore. Feeling relaxed I walked to my towel I flopped onto it and stared at the scorching sun. Closing my eyes, I lay flat on my pack and took a deep inhale. Exhaling out I heard a “thump” noise. I opened my eyes, I sand all over my body and I …show more content…
It was so humid, but the game was too intense to stop playing. As I set the ball up for one of my teammates, she plunged off the ground and spiked the ball over the net, but all of the sudden the ball was just about to hit the ground. My competitor dove into the sand and prevented the ball from hitting the ground. The other team passed the ball around and on their second set a girl sprung from the ground and spiked it over the net and the volleyball hit the ground on our side. Sighing, but keeping my head up I say, “We still got this team. We can make a comeback!” The game was tied up, everyone was exhausted. Huffing and puffing. Hitting the ball to each side, I decided to set up the best person on our team. He leaped as high as he could and he stuck the ball to the ground. We were all cheering and throwing our fist into the with joy. I crouched under the net and shook everyone’s hand and said, “That was a great game. I had a lot of fun. It was nice meeting you by the

As she walking to class, something caught her attention, the shore outside. She went outside, they were allowed to go outside without permission. She walked outside and she could feel the breeze going towards her and she could feel the warmness of the sun reflecting on top of her head. She saw how the waves were moving in a steady motion and it splashing on top of the soft sand. She could hear the palm trees moving gently.…

We were the champions. Skating as fast as possible, I rushed from the blue line to the net where our goalie was. Our team dog piled on top of one another and screamed with joy. Cheering and crying rang throughout the entire arena. I was elated, tears streamed down my face as I hugged my teammates. After a few seconds, our team recognized that we needed to shake hands with the other team. I understood the defeat and sadness in the opposing teams’ eyes because earlier in the year, I lost to an underdog team in the soccer section final. After the hand shaking, I was a given a medal from my coach.…

    St Cloud Tech Short Story

One late, Thursday night, under our home court, we played St. Cloud Tech. We played them earlier in the season, so we were ready to take them down another round. I was a little sad because I knew that I probably was not going to play this game, but I would not let that affect my attitude. Once we started, I continued to warm up and cheer as I always would. The whistle blew; my team won the first set. Once the second set started, I heard the whistle blow again. This time it signaled something else. It was a substitution, meaning I was going in to play. I was ecstatic that I got the chance to play with my friends and prove to my coaches. After some very intense volleys, the whistle blew once more. We, the Sartell Sabres, had won the second set and were moving on to the third set. While…

It was a fun game to watch, as we all thought about us playing on that court the next day. It was finally game day, and we had to play Stewartville, 2nd place from Minnesota. They were athletic, but we ended up winning the close match. Our next rival was the Bismark Thunder, 1st in North Dakota and last year's national champions. We were nervous since the were taller, stronger, faster, and just better than us. We lost to them, but we were fired up to play for 3rd place. The team headed over to the Target Center for the 3rd place game. Playing there was so neat, being under the lights, having them announce your name, and just being with the tam. We played Grafton, who placed 2nd at state in North Dakota. They looked like us, athletically, so we weren’t too worried. We came out with a bang, ready to play. Darby and Ellie pushed it up the court on fast breaks, giving us the early lead. Rilee and I played great defense on the post, as well as Marlee on the wing. Jenny came in and scored a couple before halftime. We were tied 17-17 at the half, and we knew we would have to work even harder. Halftime was over, and we played our hearts out the rest of the game. Mavis and Paige played great offensively, as well as Taylor on defense. We beat Grafton, 36-34, with Darby’s 1:00 left, 2-point shot. We were so happy that we had pulled off that win! We spent the next hour at the…

There is no doubt that the oceans are among our biggest resources for life on earth, but they are also our scapegoat for some of mankind’s biggest problems. Because the oceans cover the majority of our planet’s surface, we believe it to be this massive amount of endless means to food, life, and nutrients. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The oceans are slowly diminishing away in resources and humans are responsible. While it’s true the oceans can provide us with some amazing eco-solutions like alternative energy, new life, and environmental protections, they’re still undergoing some serious stress factors. One of the most…

I woke up hazed with blurred vision. The right side of my face was dried and burned. The left side of my face was soaked in salt water and blood. I was freaked out and picked up my head and blinked rapidly. I saw nothing but blue for miles and miles, the sky and the water. When I looked down I saw nothing but a small black and orange rubber dingy. I tried to think about what had happened. It was then when I realized I couldn't even remember my own name. Then panic just settled in for some reason I jumped in the water freaking out. I came to my senses and quickly started using all my strength to hurdle myself in the dingy.…

When I awoke on that Sunday morning, I visited my grandmother who was living with us at the time. Being an extremely religious 88 year old woman, my grandma (Nonna) wished me a happy birthday and handed me the most beautiful gold necklace. It shined with such brilliance and there was an angel depicted on the front. She explained to me that it was a guardian angel and she believed it had helped her through tough times. Without a second thought I accepted the thoughtful gift and left for my championship volleyball tournament which consisted of 12 teams. Upon arrival, we checked in and progressed to the gym. The sharp smell of wax felt cold in my nose as I met up with my team. I still had my birthday card from my grandmother with me so before our first game I read it and it mentioned that in its origin, my name meant that the lord has answered and how thankful she was to be able to see me grow up. I put it away and played 11 teams. Our team was completely worn out to a point where I could feel sweat collect and swiftly stream down my back. I was burning but my skin was cold when the final game began for the championship title. Our team was desperate, tired, and hopeless. It is impossible to win a game with that way . The game had a rough start, we knew we would lose and we all tried…

We finished up the game in two sets because the team wasn’t that much of a competition. When we were telling them good game, the coach of the other team told me “good job” and “way to keep playing without one shoe on”. I just laughed and said, “thank you”. There are things that happen like this that make me love volleyball so much and why it makes me happy. Since this has happened to me, I know to make sure that my shoes are tied tight so I don’t have another…

Naturally by this time my aching loneliness glides in like an empty cloud drifting afar in the dead of night. All presence of faith deserted long before the scorching sun inhaled its last breath, in order for the moon to be reborn. Yet unmistakably it’ll only be the sun welcoming my dispirited morning as any glimpse of faith is hushed by my heavy thoughts, which deeply desire to remain firmly rooted in my mascara stained pillow. A reminder of the all the endless nights I overfilled with enough tears to form an unsettling ocean. Nevertheless I remain dehydrated from pure happiness for eons.…

My vision was blurry, smudging my surroundings into a blob of color. Something was slamming into the wall of my chest as if it was trying to break free. I put my hand over my heart and felt each strong pulsation quicken. I knew I had to concentrate and use all of my will power to take another step forward. I had to keep telling myself not to look down, but how? How could I not look down if I needed to see where to put my foot? Tension started to build in my muscles making every movement more constricting. My breathing quickened to fill the emptiness in my lungs. Calm down Claire! You can’t do this if you keep freaking out! I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. The scent of salt filled my nose and I could hear waves crashing against the shore. My heart rate fell and my breathing began to slow. I opened my eyes only to feel a sharp stinging them. I rubbed them trying to find some relief. Sweat had consumed my face and found its way into the delicate tissues of my eyes. It was then that I realized the scent of the fresh sea air was actually coming from me.…

Everyone was watching nervously at the stands. All my teammates were eager yet nervous. I was up next and my coach calls me up to bat with two girls on first and third base. My legs were shaking as I went up to the plate. The score is eight to ten with two outs and the pressures on me. He explained to me what I had bring everyone to home plate. Ting! My bat struck the ball and it landed all the way in the outfield. All of my other teammates were cheering inside the dugout. All three of us sprinted as fast as we could to home plate. They both made it to home and I slide onto home plate. I made the home run! Everyone in the dugout came running onto the field with huge smile on their faces chanting, “We won! We won!” My coach shook my helmet and patted my back. Coach was so excited and happy for us. He was the one who made this team so successful.…

You're a rock. You're on the seashore, and you've experienced countless waves; the initial impact of the crest when it breaks, the mass of water carrying the inevitable mass of debris rushing pass you, then the same mass of water retreating away from the seashore. Sometimes the weather is calm, and the waves are gentle. Sometimes the wind blows constant, and the waves are relentless. Sometimes the sea rages, the the waves crash against you with unfathomable power. Those days don't occur very often, and you somehow manage to hold on to your metaphorical grip on the sands. You are a sturdy boulder.…
