Personal Narrative Essay: The Football Game
Everyone was watching nervously at the stands. All my teammates were eager yet nervous. I was up next and my coach calls me up to bat with two girls on first and third base. My legs were shaking as I went up to the plate. The score is eight to ten with two outs and the pressures on me. He explained to me what I had bring everyone to home plate. Ting! My bat struck the ball and it landed all the way in the outfield. All of my other teammates were cheering inside the dugout. All three of us sprinted as fast as we could to home plate. They both made it to home and I slide onto home plate. I made the home run! Everyone in the dugout came running onto the field with huge smile on their faces chanting, “We won! We won!” My coach shook my helmet and patted my back. Coach was so excited and happy for us. He was the one who made this team so successful. It was not only our championship game it was the goal that we had put our blood, sweat, and tears into. That day I realized what it meant to be a team including the coach. It had been a long game since it was a double header meaning we had two games with the same team and on the same day. Everyone worked very hard throughout the season to reach this point. I will also always think of coach as a role model since he is an important figure in my life. He has also impacted my life in a positive way. He was one of the factors that made me passionate about the game of softball. I am very grateful and thankful that he was in my life as a coach; He taught me different techniques to make me a better hitter and a overall softball player. I was very upset when it was the last year playing for my coach. All the girls went off to different high schools and the last time we met we all were sad but we enjoyed all of the years we spent together. Coach worked very hard for us and I will never forget about all that he did. He will always be in my memories and a person that I look up

And to finish up that inning we just got a couple ground balls and we turned a double play. And for the next few innings nothing really happened both teams were struggling to hit. Now it's like the 5th inning and we have the top of our hitting order up so we had:Liam,Luke,Ryan,Alex as our 1,2,3,4 hitters. And we got a rally going and we scored a couple runs so at this point the score is 5-1 and we have the lead so then I go into the 6th inning to pitch and I can only do ⅔ of the inning so than Ryan comes in and pitches and to finish out the 7th Alex pitches a 3 strikeout inning. So the game was over and the presedent of the league gave me the game ball to keep and bring home and everyone on our team got a trophy to take home after we won we were all so happy that we won the championship because it was or a lot of people the first time they won something. The…

The entire gymnasium roared as the die-hard fans rushed onto the court to congratulates us. My fellow teammates rushed to me with sweaty hugs, as my mind took pictures of the event so this memory would be engraved in me for the rest of my life. Lastly, my family rushed in to congratulate me them being almost as happy we won as I was happy we…

The team we were up against was the fierce, very talented number 2 in the state, the Rattlers. Recruiting players from all over the country to play on one team, they were a powerhouse no doubt. Josh back in the lineup after sitting out that last game and the hour break we had, he was all fueled up and ready to go. First inning comes up and they bat first putting up a enormous number of runs counting up to 10 in the first. We came back with a 2 run inning. shut them down in the second, and came back another 3 run inning cutting their lead in half. Slowly gaining momentum we knew what we came here to dude and that was to win this championship. Third inning rolls around and we shut them down for the second consecutive inning. We come to bat, three walks in a row and im due up with the bases loaded. Pitcher throwing close to 92 mph, look almost impossible to hit. first pitches goes by and my eyes widened that was the fastest thing i've ever seen right down the pipe for strike one. Next pitch same result. Third pitch i knew it was coming, i reached back threw my bat at the ball and hit a GRAND SLAM! Putting out team down just 1 run with 3 innings to…

Eighth grade year, gym class, flag football. I remember this day like it was yesterday. I had a fuming hatred for the gym teachers and their actions toward these pre-pubescent kids who take everything a little too personally, but with these rude teachers each and every reaction from each and every kid was appropriate. The only way I could describe these teachers is 40 year olds who find joy in making 13 year olds miserable. So, it all began when the flag football unit started. I wasn’t afraid of the evil humans we called gym teachers; I spoke my mind. Football was usually the last unit every year and every year the girls had to relearn how to play football, while the boys got to go play outside right away without an ounce of review. Because I am me, this wasn’t going to fly.…

It all started at ninth street with some friends of mine John and I started recruiting some people to come play football with us. I honestly didn’t know I had a pretty decent arm. I originally was going to start practicing to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. At the time Odell Beckham Jr. ( wide receiver for the New York Giants ) was extremely explosive and dynamic on offense. Seeing him blow up on offense made me want to try out for wide receiver. But somehow John convinced me to play quarterback.…

The game against Easton really set the tone for my team and we only got better from there, winning almost every game that summer and most importantly we won Districts with little to no competition, but that didn’t mean we could just try and breeze by with no effort but we knew that and played our game. I fully believe baseball is the best sport and has made me into the great young man I am today. It taught me integrity, humbleness, appreciation and most importantly how to deal with failure. I sometimes sit back and try to think about what life would be like without baseball and I simply can not. Baseball has had such a big impact on my life I can’t imagine life without it or what I would do with my free time. The thing I love most about baseball is the love-hate relationship everybody has with it. Nobody has a perfect relationship with baseball, everybody questions the love they have for it at least twice a season and the only difference between the greats and normal players is the great’s stayed with it and worked on their craft instead of taking the easy way and just giving…

On and off the field, I knew my role was to lead our class and team. From the weight room to the track, and even in the classroom, I lead by example and empowered others on a journey unique to each person. Teaching freshman, and staying after practice to help those that needed it, helped me realize the uttermost selfish thing we can do is believe our actions only affect ourselves. Everything we do affects someone else for the better or for the worse. There is no other environment that lends the same leadership opportunities and experiences than that of a football. I can truly say that without playing football in high school, I would not have grown into the person I am today, nor possess the same intellectual characteristics. I am grateful for all experiences, whether seemingly beneficial or adverse, as it is the conglomerate of experiences that makes us who we…

It was the day that most freshmen dread, cuts day. There were many of us trying out for the JV baseball team- more people than there were positions. I could see it, I would be starting catcher on the JV baseball team. I had made it passed the first two weeks of tryouts and I was so confident that I was going to make it. That was, until on that last day of tryouts when the two coaches pulled me out of a drill and told me they wanted to talk to me.…

“Cameron, you can’t play football you’ll die,” My mother told me in her usual serious tone, I could always count on my mom to keep it 100% reality even though I hated it. I wanted to play football so bad for three years I've literally had dreams of me playing defensive back, my wishful position, and being able to play with my emotions and do very well. I stopped pursuing football even though deep down I was still set on football.…

It was a Friday night in mid August 1991. I was a noseguard and middle linebacker on defense, depending on the play. I also played right guard on the offensive line. This is the story of a night that could of well ended any hope of being an athlete, on any level, from this point on. I will be telling the story from the defensive side of the ball, due to that is where I was playing when I had five vertebrae, slightly, separated.…
