He knows that they are in real bad trouble. They are greatly outnumbered by the fighters. They did not give up though, they fought it out. From morning till noon, they held out, even severely outnumbered. But when the sun passed, one by one, Odysseus’s men gave way. They were left with very few men at the end of the death scene. They mourned the deaths of their crewmen and friends. Before they continued on their journey homeward, some shipmates had a little memorial by raising a cry, three times, for each of the lost men killed in the battle. They wanted no harm towards his men but getting caught up with them was not good. The lotus-eaters offered some sweet lotus to his men and they accepted, causing them to never think about going back ever. It made the men want to stay there forever. Forgetting their homeland, and most of their life. Odysseus had to do something right, so he gathered his men and drove them back to the ship. They did not go willingly, they wailed the whole time. He tied them up and put them on the ship, he warned the others saying, “no one taste the Lotus, or you lose your hope of home.” . After this mishap, they once again set sail out into the sea again. I think this goes to show that Odysseus cares about his men and wants to have them make it home as well as
