Officer Jackson's Ethical Dilemmas

Throughout our lifetime we face ethical dilemmas, and in this fictional ethical dilemma the main character must decide if he’s willing obey his superior or go against his superior because he views his superior has the wrong viewpoint. The main character is Robert Jackson, and he works in his local police department. The ethical dilemma is that Officer Jackson must decide if it’s morally right to target areas, which wealthy retirees tend to live in, with tickets. His boss tries to justify it by showing how the money will benefit the community as a whole.
This is an ethical dilemma for Officer Jackson because of his Christian faith. I specifically choose this issue because it’s something that appears to be minor, but actually reveals a lot about someone’s
First, he decides to look at scripture to see if his Christian faith backs up the way he is inclined to go. One scripture from the Old Testament to support Officers Jacksons viewpoint is Proverbs 22:2 NIV, “Rich and poor have this in common: The LORD is the Maker of them all”. This reminds Jackson that everyone is equal in the fact that they share the same Creator. Another scripture he looks at is in the New Testament, by Jesus, in John 13:34, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” Thus, by looking at Jesus’s teaching, it shows that we are all to love one another. Therefore, by looking at this dilemma rationally with scripture, the decision Officer Jackson should choose is aligning more with his beliefs.
