Throughout my life I have noticed that most of my achievements have

Raleigh eventually gained approval from the royal crown to delegate an English colony in the unfamiliar land. Seven ships- and two flagships- departed from England on April 9, 1585. In total, there were 500 hundred men, including Manteo and Wanchese. Months thereafter passed and on June 26, 1585, the ships landed a mere 80 miles southwest of Roanoke. Unaware of the treacheries to navigate around the alien world, the Tiger, one of the quainter ships, ran aground and a generous portion of the cargo was lost. Once the seven ships ultimately dropped anchor into the shallow water surrounding the island, the Indians had no advanced emotions towards the English. Earlier in the year, the tribes witnessed and entire solar eclipse, a comet upon the return…

Blakely's words are technically the definition of failure, it is the decisive point of what success is: a continuous process of attempts and failure, during which one must not be afraid of failure. She believes that success comes to persistent people, who are willing to try over and over again, who fail, risk, stand up and try it again. In her opinion, success only comes if you are willing to fail, and good things come to those who wait, try, fail and learn from their failures. Willingness is part of the journey to…

“Never give up, and be confident in what you do. There may be tough times, but the difficulties which gave you face will make you more determined to achieve your objectives and to win against all odds.” This was what women’s Brazilian soccer star Marta once advised. Never giving up may sound like a goal that is impossible to reach in reality. Although that may be true, in literature there are characters who exhibit it ideally. For instance, Joan Bauer’s short story “A Letter from the Fringe” introduces a figure who showcases these traits. On a somber day, Dana, the protagonist, a high school student at Bronley High was tormented by bullies alongside her friend Sally for being overweight. Although, it seemed as if her heart had been torn out and thrown to the side, she was capable of forcing the two tyrants to flee. Afterwards, she insisted that they had no right to…

The question of failure is, in fact, a success in itself. I frame my life knowing that every obstruction and challenge faced is just a lesson waiting to be learned. The circumstances that genuinely made me believe this philosophy happened when I began working at Chick-Fil-A. Starting my work at the offset of 16 I promised myself that I was going to prove to the management that I was going to progress to become one of the best. Throughout the years of working there I upheld my promise and worked my way up to become a Team Leader. The youngest Team leader ever to work at that Chick-Fil-A.…

For some people it takes forever to figure out that failure is not always a bad thing, while at the time it may seem like the end of the world. “We are all potentially capable of any human act.” (Roth 39). Even the most successful of people have failed at something at least once in their lives. Maybe consider though, that failure was what brought them back up to the best, hardest working person that they could be and it did not take long for them to retrieve what they had lost and made it ten times better!…
