On Mars By Mark Watney
Around 2035 NASA astronaut Mark Watney. A botanist and mechanical engineer have been left by his crew stranded on Mars. after the crew of the Ares 3 mission were made to evacuate their landing site in Acidalia Planitia (On Mars) due to a huge dust storm with high-speed winds. Mark was impaled by an antenna during the evacuation and believed dead.

The types of language the author used made me more interested in the book because they would appeal to me more because they seemed more scientific. As well as this the author used many acronyms like HAB (habitation module).

The beginning of this text made me want to keep reading because I thought he died
By getting impaled on a radio antenna that was his only way to contact earth and I wanted to see how he would survive.

This meant he was not able to fill the rover's batteries and travel as far! Mark was watching his amount of max distance go down every day and found out how to get around the storm. not being able to contact earth before or during this time made it worse for him.

I Would read another book by this author because there was a large amount of technical language that tells a story effectively
The book is researched correctly and this means that most of the items in the book are things that NASA is planning to send to mars
The Title was exactly what the book was about. All of these combined meant I could not put the book

"The antenna had enough force to punch through the suit and my side, but it had been stopped by my pelvis. So there was only one hole in the suit (and a hole in me, of course). I had been knocked back quite a ways and rolled down a steep hill. Somehow I landed face down, which forced the antenna to a strongly oblique angle that put a lot of torque on the hole in the suit. It made a weak seal."(Weir 17) Mark survives the entire night with a hole in his suit on…

Andy Weir, a well known sci-fi author, once said, “A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow” (“Andy Weir Quotes” Brainy). Andy Weir is the author of The Martian, a hugely successful book about an astronaut called Mark Watney. In the book, Watney is left on Mars by his fellow crewmates who believe he is dead. The Martian describes what it would be like to survive on a desolate planet, but still somehow makes it interesting. The interest in The Martian is sometimes found in the author himself, but it is also widely found in the relatable humor and dramatic imagery both of which help the book seem more realistic.…
