In addition to this I also showed good refereeing skills according to those who analysed my performance. This is because I used had a good effective use of the scoring system, this is something which is very vital to a referee’s role as it’s important to know which team in winning. The way, in which I shown good effective use of the scoring system was by making sure the players knew the score every time a goal was scored, I also had a notepad which I wrote all the goal scorers numbers on which made sure I knew who exactly score from which team. This was also a good initiative which I decided to do of my own back. Having a good effect on the scoring system and known the score at all times I important as a ref as when a team scores a lot of goal you may lose count but…

When the first game came I was extremely happy yet nervous also. We ended up winning the game by the score of three runs to two although I did not get to bat at all and was put in only for two innings of defense. I was disappointed that I did not get to play much but I was happy with the win. Our second game was the next day and I hoped to get more playing time then. When that day came it turned out that we were playing an extremely skilled team. We were losing three to one in the last inning and I still hadn’t played at all the whole game. One of my friends hit a double and then another one of my teammates hit a single to knock him in to score. The score was now three to two and we had a chance to come back. My coach then decided that we needed someone faster on the bases so he called for a…

Starting from the first practices with my local baseball team, I was worse than all the other kids. A dislike towards the sport added to the uphill battle of getting better. My desire to go back and play soccer kept on growing. Everyone on my team, including me, were 120% focused during our warm-up because we were versing a good Illinois team and their team’s name was Euro SC Select. This team had a lot of skilled and fast players that were definitely bigger than us. Most of the players on this team were very aggressive and physical too, so my team had to be very strong. There weren’t many times when my soccer games were really intense, but this game was very intense to watch and the parents were getting so nervous and anxious. It was a really close game and we ended up tying the game 0-0. Because of the tie in the championship game, we had to go into penalty kicks. My coach got to choose 5 people to kick from the penalty box and they have to try to make it in. My team was so scared to the point where we all held hands and we stayed very close to each other. In the end we were happy because we had made 3 out of 5 goals in and the other team only made 1 goal out of 5 shots! To phrase it better, my team won the tournament and we all lived happily ever…

I made the team my junior year. Although I did not start the first games because the coach would put some of his favorite players in but one game he put me in second half and no one would get pass me. I was taking all the all the balls away from the opponents and also winning them in the air. After that game I became the starter for every game. It felt good because there were only seven juniors on the team and I was one out of three juniors that started every game. But I was really clad for myself because all the hard work I did over the summer paid off. We were in a tournament and were playing to go to the finals. We won 7 -1. I scored my first goal in that game. When I thought everything was going good one of the opponent player slide and hit me in the knee with his cleats and I just fell and I could not walk because it was the worst pain in the…

I am from Albania and my family and I first came into the United States on June 22, 2002 while the World Cup was playing at the time. I was twelve years old and started to become interested in playing soccer. I would always watch soccer with my friends and family at any time I was free but never thought about playing until I came into the U.S. Looking at my friends and family around me cheering for their favorite country was really exciting for me and bought me closer to the game. Every time my friends would clap or cheer for the country they wanted to win, it was with passion and I wanted that also. As time and multiple games went by, it was Brazil and Germany in the final,…

I met my first goal and was on varsity. However, l wanted to start a few games and make a difference for my team. At the beginning of the season, I started off on the bench. I felt just as bad as I did a year before, I wasn’t good enough for the coach and just wanted to quit. I keep my head up and just used it as motivation. I was tired of feeling bad for myself. I stayed late after practice to run extra laps and went all out in practice. Until one night we went down to play Warrensburg high school to play and my coach thought I was ready to get my very first start. I was extremely happy and wanted to prove myself. We ended up winning the game seven to one and I got my first career assist. I went on to start two other games and helped my school win their third conference title in a…

Everything was so cool at first because I didn't realize anything that was happening because my excitement got the best of me. Then I stopped getting excited to go to practices. The old Coach did not even pay any attention to the new players. He did not try to teach them the game of soccer or even how to play. It just seemed he only payed all his attention to his returning players. Which, absolutely did not make any sense to me at all. Mainly, because since the fact that they already knew how to play. They had been playing since they were really young children. I felt like It would just make a lot more sense to work with the new players. So they can know how to play and understand the actually game of soccer more. But, since he did not see it that way, he did not do that at all. So when he did put me in the last 5 minutes of what it seemed to be every blue moon, that's not exact. But, he would get upset and pull me right back out of the game because I was not doing anything right. This is because he did not teach me the right thing to do. It even happened at practices, there was very many days when he just…

Firstly, I was surprised and disappointed that I didn’t make varsity. All of my friends and I thought I would make the team so I was surprised that I didn’t. That year, I had also been playing soccer out of school and I was on team b which is the second highest team and I thought I had done well in the tryouts, so I figured it would be pretty likely that I would make it. It was also disappointing because I was hoping to play with and against higher level soccer players to improve my game, but I realized that it doesn’t matter as much to whom you are playing against, but to how much effort you put in and the way you play.…

I hadn't had any previous experience in football besides my days on the middle school playground. Practices were long and left me exhausted. As all of the other kids were picked up by their parents, I prepared myself for the long walk home. With my father working and my mother unable to drive, walking was my only method of transportation after a long day of school and practice. In addition to that, my lack of experience showed on the field and I quietly watched on the sideline for most of the season.…

In a soccer, regional game during my freshman year, one of our top players got injured at the beginning of the game. Our team had worked extremely hard all season to win this game, and when he fell down and injured himself – I thought it was over. As he was being “helped off” the field by an athletic trainer, our team decided to huddle around him. All of a sudden and without hesitation or regard for his injuries, he began to offer us some words of advice. "Nothing has changed, and you guys have the next 80 minutes to show these guys that we are destined to win this game.” It was at this very point that I decided, as mere freshman, to “step up” and to offer my leadership skills to my team.…
