One Day Narrative Essay
Sunday was calm and it was time for her to go to the outlet. Cami is an ordinary fifteen year old who is obsessed with shopping and movies. She walked swiftly as she was holding five bags just from the athletic department store, Nike. Cami eats, breathes and sleeps soccer and only buys her outfits at Nike. Once Cami arrived to soccer practice after a full day of shopping, around nine o’clock at night, she always feels a breeze of air and a smell of blood as she runs back and forth down the field. Cami always thought it was just herself, her teammates, her coach and her family in the stadium. The more she came to her games, the more she felt uncomfortable. Cami could never put a finger on what was happening, but one second she was fine and then …show more content…
Show me how to be a good person. Show me what’s the good in life, not the bad, not the things I did to others that made me become this ghostly figure. If you don’t, you will be gone from this world, you’ll be just like me. A person who has no reason to live anymore.” the ghost responded in tears. “How am I supposed to teach you soccer if you’re a ghost? You’ll go through the ball like a feather!” Cami said loudly. Just as Cami said that, a flash burned her eyes and the ghost all of a sudden turned into a guy who is just like Cami. A teenager that has a goal in life, but looked so hurt inside. Cami felt bad for this ordinary guy, just after a few mistakes he made, he turned into a ghost. After talking to herself, Cami decided to teach him how to play soccer. She knew that if she didn’t she will never reach her dream of becoming a professional soccer player, which was her ultimate goal and she wasn’t going to let anything get in the way of that. They first started to dribble the ball and after all, he wasn’t bad. Cami was probably better than him playing, but he never wanted to admit that. Only after an hour of playing, the guy turned back into the ghost and

So every Saturday at 10:15 he would arrive and ask me to work on his big kicks. Every week we worked, trying to achieve the perfect kick: one that flew high and far into the net. Finally, after several weeks of hard work and frustration, he kicked the ball high and far and it soared into the four foot tall portable soccer goal. The smile on Jake’s face had never been wider, and much to my surprise, he ran over and gave me a hug; The boy, against all odds, had truly become passionate about the beautiful game of soccer.…

There are around 21.5 million young athletes between the ages of 6-17 that play in organized youth sports (Kelley 34). Numerous children participate in sports with the help of external forces, for example: parents, coaches, peers, and more. This investment can impact adolescents’ health in a positive or negative way (Hyman 119). Receiving help can be a wonderful gift, but people’s selfish pride can ruin sports for adolescents. Youths are powerless against outside help because it is usually given by adults who are considered more “wiser.” This can cause children to stop playing sports all together as they mature because of the trauma they may receive at such a young age. It is important to examine this issue because this is a problem that…

As I stepped out from inside the school into the biting cold air, I looked around for my teammates. I saw the team gathering beside the field and moved to join them. Anyone who saw me coming would have known it was me from a mile away, for I was easily recognizable. I had curly blond hair that flowed down over my eyes. In addition, despite being quite skinny, I towered over most of my teammates. I reached the mill of people on the pitch and spoke to a few of my teammates about the game ahead.…

The team got together the next week for the yearly season ending party. I walked into my coaches house with guilt still hanging on my shoulders. To my surprise though, no one seemed to be mad at me, even when I had lost us the game, and they had to be upset about not winning the championship title. When our captain had started to organize teams for a little kick-around session, I realized why no one was disappointed at me, or in general for that matter. It was possibly the pressure of winning or the excitement that I might finally live up to my sister’s standards, but somewhere along the way I had forgotten why my teammates and I played soccer in the first place. Although it would have been great, it wasn’t to gain a tournament title or win the game. It was because we all shared the love of the game. I didn’t need to receive a trophy or even come out with an underdog win to have fun playing soccer with some of my closest friends, but apparently I needed to freeze up to remember…

“Watch out!” yelled Liz. Before I even had time to react, I fell to the ground and felt a sharp pain in my right forearm, along with a very distinct cracking sound. The smell of blood hit me like a truck. The excruciating amount of pain was intolerable, but I didn’t shed even a single tear. I slowly opened my eyes and realized Liz had run into me and fell on top of my arm. The basketball, which had caused her to run into me rolled slowly to the side as if it had nothing to do with my injury. The entire class started to circle around us slowly as if they were afraid they would wake us up. I elevated my head and saw a pool of blood underneath my right arm. Ms.Lang, who was my teacher, started to speak.…

Anger, sadness, disappointment, despair, and frustration are just a few examples of feelings you can experience while playing soccer. On the contrary, you can feel excitement, pride, joy, unity, and so much more. Not only can you experience these feelings while playing soccer, you can also experience them during your everyday life. Loukas Angelo once expressed that “[Soccer] is a metaphor for life. [Soccer] is unfair, inconsistent, subjective, and fast-paced. And life itself could be described exactly the same way…”. Though soccer and life can have terrible moments, we should be thankful for those moments. We should cherish our hardships, because it makes success just that much sweeter. While observing a soccer game, I was able to witness an emotional roller coaster. When one team scored, the scoring team was filled with glee, but their opposition was filled with despair. Then when the opposition scored, the feelings reversed each other. As the game wore on, both teams were determined to score, so they could bring home the win. They battled until the end, until the opposition scored. The other team was left heartbroken; they poured in so much handwork and energy, but got very little out. As both teams walked off the field, they went over to one another to shake hands. The coaches rounded up the players to offer their takes on the game. As the players walked off with their parents, you could hear the winning team filled with joy and laugher; the opposing team, however, was filled with tears and disappointment. How could…

On the damp soft ground of a soccer field, I stood there in silence thinking how to approach. How to get better at being more accurate with the ball and my touch. Slowly I started to walk toward the ball, the connection between the ball and my foot broke the silence. Leading to the sound of the ball connecting with the net, putting a smile on my face. I had finally made a shot I liked.…

It had been a clear boiling summer day out on the practice fields of Saint John’s high school. Tryouts for the soccer team had just ended, and everyone, including me were anxiously awaiting the cuts. Though I was nervous, I reassured myself with this one fact, “I was on the freshman team, I am definitely not getting cut.” As I gazed up, I saw the coaches huddling and quietly discussing, my heart was in my throat. The coach slowly began to amble his way over to us grasping the dreaded clipboard. At this point, sweat was rapidly beading down my neck and face stinging my eyes. He began reading names off the list, after each name that wasn’t mine I felt a deep sigh of relief. However, on the last name that the coach called was mine, Ashwin…

The first forty-five minutes of the game went uneventfully; both teams attempted to score, but the soccer ball was shuttled around the field like a ping-pong ball, aimlessly with no sense of direction. As they battled against their opponents, the harsh and brutal wind attacked the athletes. They had to win. They had to beat the cold. They had to beat the best team, and they had to get even. Whistle blaring, halftime was declared, and the team trudged back through the icy grass, disappointed. The winter chill was barely felt as their unspoken frustration took over. The team circled together and listened to their coach's encouragements. The shrill whistle sounded once again, and the team charged back onto the field, feeling the motivation to win, remembering Coach Smith's last words: "There's nothing you girls can't do".…
