One Direction
One Direction
One Direction might be described as amaZAYN, phenomeNIALL, brilLIAM, fabuLOUIS, or extraordinHARRY but I think they are much more. They have awesome voices and accents, they seem to be caring people and last but not least they are very good looking.
I love their accents and voices. When they sing they sound American but when they talk they sound British/Irish. Any real fan can tell who they are when they talk since they are all from different parts of The United Kingdom they have different accents. One Direction seems to be caring people unless it is just the media that makes them do nice things but I think it is out of their will. Instead of having a video that probably cost thousands of dollars they made one on their own and with the money they saved they donated it to a charity called “Comic Relief”. They also care about their fans they always say, “Without our fans we wouldn’t be where we are now”. Of what I’ve heard, read, and seen they never turn down autographs or pictures unless they are in a hurry or want their privacy. When someone says One Direction everyone will be like ,”Eww why do you like them they are ugly and gay”, but how do they know they are gay they don’t even know them but I just say “Yeah they are gay. They are very HAPPY with their lives”. One Direction aren’t ugly either yeah people have different taste in guys but they are like gods. In my opinion I don’t want them to change who they are because they are perfect just the way they are. Even though One Direction is amaZAYN, phenomiNIALL, brilLIAM, fabuLOUIS, and extroardinHARRY they are still more. They will get somewhere bigger where their accents and voices will be heard louder, their niceness and kindness can be shown more, and their good looks can be seen more.

Hailed by many as purely a southern rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd was not only a success outside the Deep South but gained widespread popularity throughout the country in the 1970’s. Yes, of course much of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s style and sound evolved from there southern roots but that is not strictly who they were or what solely influenced them. After all, it is very difficult to be inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame if all you appeal to is a very small sect of the music market(Sullivan 1).…

When you initially hear a song it is often difficult to understand the meaning of the song, and even in some cases the lyrics. This is where music videos can be very helpful. They put a story line with the lyrics. This allows the viewer to understand it much better. However, this was not always the case, as televisions have not always existed. It was a long time after the television had gained popularity that MTV came along, and MTV in turn was responsible for creating music videos. As television was a visual medium, it would thus require something to view. This resulted in the music video, which led many different artists to fame. One artist who has used music videos as advertisement was Modest Mouse,…

In the wake of Liam Payne’s new baby, and the several reactions of fans and anti-fans I decided to take a closer look at the rhetoric between artist and fans, as well as the ill perceived image of fans by other audiences. In 2013 the movie “This Is Us” by Morgan Spurlock was released. The movie is a documentary about the biggest boy band since Take That and Backstreet Boys, One Direction. The motion picture didn’t only focus on the band and their Take Me Home tour, it also had an emphasize on their…

Music is important for many people; it often enhances their lives and gives them something to look forward too. Music can also bring different groups of people together and friendships can grow. In 3rd grade, I started listening to bands such as My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and Blink-182 because my older brother was listening to them at that time. When I first started listening to the music, I just liked the sound of it, however as I grew up the music developed more meaning for me. I started to understand what the lyric meant and the music was catchy, as well as, making you feel as you belonged. Pete Wentz has always been vocal about his anxiety and depression, which helped me out with mine because it showed how I was not alone, and even my idols had to go through hard times. My first concert my parents ever let me go to was in 2013, when Fall Out Boy had just come back from hiatus, and was performing at the Jingle Ball in Sacramento with Panic! at the Disco and other artists. Since then, I have been to all of Fall Out Boy’s summer tours. While my music taste has grown, I still mostly listen to variations of pop punk music, which many of the bands in today’s pop punk scene were inspired by Fall Out Boy and those…

They influence you to be the best that you could be. Nowadays, we are being exposed to negative role models in the music industry. Many celebrities don’t realize that they are a role model to others. Some celebrities are not aware that their music motivates and inspires many people. For example, Miley Cyrus. Many people see her as a horrible role model because of her actions lately. Many believe that she has changed for the worst and instead of encouraging her fans to do good, she has developed an auspicious image of herself. Miley transitioned from an inspirational character on Disney Channel to a rebel involved with drugs, alcohol, and being provocative. Young kids look up to her and she is demonstrating a poor example because she’s influencing them to make careless, terrible decisions in the future. She makes her actions seem acceptable when in reality, they’re…

Melvin O’Doom and Rickie Haywood Williams are both from London, where they speak fluently posh English which is where KISS FM is aired, so people can relate to them. Their accent is of someone from South London, which they don’t use Standard English as much but their sociolect also fact points this. They use words like “What have you been up to?” or “I’m just saying!” is something which lots of Londoners will be familiar to hearing. Charlie is from Essex, which is just on the outskirts of London and is thought of as being wealthy. Interestingly Charlie Hedges chosen of words is nowhere closer to Standard English but uses slang such as “wanna” instead of “want to” or “flip” instead of “change”. Personally, my response to hearing these presenters is that they speak genuinely. As a Londoner, I am aware with the sociolect of Charlie Hedges as well as the more formal language of Rickie Haywood Williams. My own spoken language is somewhere between the two with me using a sociolect similar to Charlie Hedges in social situations with my friends but more like of Rickie Haywood Williams if I was speaking to my parents or a teachers.…

They are the original version of One Direction with catchy music and boys that every girl has a crush on. Whether or not you are a “belieber” that the Beatles are the best, you cannot deny the influence they had on the genre of pop music and all other genres as well. For instance, BBC News online readers named Beatle member Paul McCartney as the “greatest composer of the millennium” and Guinness World Records listed Paul McCartney as the most successful musician and composer in popular music history ("Paul…

Moreover, it’s difficult to grasp the root of where this ideology stems from; that ideology being the concept that it gets only gets harder to enjoy the artist’s music once he’s completely sold his soul for record-breaking sales, anthemic, pop tracks and some very, very unappealing clothing collaborations. It’s almost as if it places you on a standstill in which you find yourself asking, “Do I hate this artist?”…

It’s the 4th of July in 1995 on the Boardwalk in Naples, Florida. A 14-year-old boy is walking down the boardwalk and viewing the fireworks. Granted, this boy is the typical image of a punk, with all black, grimy clothes, and spiked black hair. Suddenly, a police officer directs him to get off the boardwalk, so he steps down, but this doesn’t seem to be good enough for the officer so a confrontation begins. This altercation ends with the boy being physically detained and arrested for battery and resisting arrest (Laura Jane Grace).…
