CHAPTER I
Problem and its background This chapter includes the introduction, background of the study, statement of objectives, scope and delimitation, significance of the study and definition of terms used.

Introduction In 1990, the World Wide Web was created by a CERN physicist Tim Berners-Lee and in 1993, the CERN announced that the World Wide Web would be free to use for anyone. A website is a set of related web pages served from a single web domain and is accessible through a network such as Internet or Local Area Network. Websites have many functions. Websites may be used as a personal website, commercial website, government website, educational website, entertainment website or a non-profit organization website. Most businesses nowadays have websites to advertise its services or products. In the Philippines, there are over 33,000,000 active internet users. Active users spend most of their internet time on social networking and entertainment. Internet rapidly increases its demand which made it easy to access for anyone in the Philippines. These numbers make advertisement through Internet efficient. Website leasing requires a small amount of fee thus making it affordable for business owners to advertise their services and products. Most business sites are designed to offer online shopping which makes it convenient for customers to purchase products. The researchers have come up to a foundation of designing an Online Ordering System for Art and Style Gallery. With the use of this website, it will reduce the cost of advertisement for businesses. Transactions will be made faster, more convenient and more secure.

Background of the study Art and Style Gallery is located at McArthur High Way, Tarlac City. Art and Style Gallery is a newly opened store that sells furniture. Since Art and Gallery Style have just recently opened, the store is looking for ways to advertise the business. They have been providing products and services information and
