INTRODUCTION

1.1 INDUSTRY PROFILE:

The cotton textiles industries have a unique place in the economic of our country. It is contribution to industrial development, employment opportunities export earnings is very significant. Production of superior quality yarn required selected and use of the right quality cotton and the cotton selection is complex process particularly in India where it is largely grown on rain field. Spinning industries are under the small scale industries so the government given some facilities.

1. Financial assistance 2. Marketing assistance 3. Technical assistance etc..

Spinning industries in India helps to improve its economic status. it provides more employment opportunities maximum use of our resources, self satisfaction of garments demands etc,,

1.2 COMPANY PROFILE HISTORY OF MEENAKSHI MILL : Sree Meenakshi Mill was established in the year 1921 by Thiyagaraja Chettiyar and it started its functioning from 1923, 15th July, which was running successfully and earned good profit by that time. In late 70’s after the expiry of Thiyagaraja Chettiyar, group of mills were handed over to their heirs particularly Madurai, Paravai and Manaparai units. Meenakshi Mills came under the control of Thiyagaraja Chettiyar. Sree Meenakshi Mill slowly started to loose its shine and popularity and started facing decline. The mill was sold to Dalmia groups. MERGER WITH GHCL LTD: From 1st April 2001 onwards Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Limited (GHCL) under took Sree Meenakshi Mills and its branches. Mr. Sanjay Dalmia is the chairman of the concern and Mr. Anurag Dalmia was the vice-chairman. It is one of the export concerns in south Tamilnadu that employs a work force of 1167 with total sales exceeding Rs. 120 crores. At present, Indian export principles and Foreign economic principles are making India to develop in Textile industry

This has been much silent revolution: The phenomenal growth of the 1990s in cotton spinning in Tamilnadu has been the forefront in the Indian power loom industry. The state ranked third, only after Maharashtra and Gujarat as regards the number of textile manufacturing units in organized and decentralized sector of the textile industry. The power loom industry in Tamilnadu provides direct and indirect employment to over 7 lakh workers and is reputable for its power loom weaving. The state produces large volumes of power loom items that find a market in every nook and corner of the country and also caters the fabric needs of the export manufacturing units located in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and other centers. Further, the performance of the power loom sector in Tamilnadu presents a better picture as there is concentration of industrial enterprise specializing on various stages of textiles manufacturer, right from ginning of cotton to spinning and garmenting of the end product. Keeping the interest of the power loom industry as a whole, an effort has been made to explain briefly about the utilization of Government funds among Power loom entrepreneurs.…
