Organizational Behavior
Organization behavior is the study of what people think, feel, and do in and around organizations. This is very important for organizational effectiveness as well as individual career success.
One of the opportunities that exist is the need to understand different cultures and how to develop new behaviors. The challenge is Globalization and competition. Another challenge is having knowledge, creativity and sharing this information. An opportunity that might have an impact on the organization is how to design individual jobs by re-engineering; benchmarking on this.
We face challenges of continuous innovation and change or the resistance to change. We can take that opportunity and make changes in what and how we learn; stimulating creativity and possibly retaining employees.
Customer satisfaction is a great challenge in which they look at the quality of the products and the services that are provided. We can take this opportunity by including employees in the planning changes.
An employer can help their employees sort out ethical ambiguous situations is another opportunity. But the challenges are time pressures, the tough competition, cutting corners and ethical dilemmas.
Management can give up some of the responsibility and take responsibility, which is empowering the employees, becomes a challenge.
Another challenge is balancing work and life conflicts; stress but the opportunity redesigning the work place and jobs.
Companies have declining employee loyalty but somehow can take this opportunity and motivate their workers. They continue to have short term stability or temporary staff in which the company can learn to live with unpredictability.
One of the major challenges is work diversity such as backgrounds, gender, age, inclination, lifestyles, values, ethnicity, culture, work styles, family needs and personal goals in which the company will need to recognize this right away and address the individual differences to ensure productivity,
