All the way from the start of an empire, to the terrible end, the ottoman empire conquered land stretching all the way to parts of modern day syria, and iran. These expeditions to conquer were led by many generations of sultans that all became experts in military warfare, using tactics that were ahead of their time. Coordinately the Ottoman empire created its own renaissance after the conquest of constantinople. They created a capital of their empire that acted as a center of trade between asia and europe. european renaissance) still stand today as a symbol to this dynasty's greatness. But perhaps most remembered was the way they ruled their land. To start, the ottomans would not convert people when conquering their land like the europeans and spaniards did. Instead they would grant religious freedom and tax them, generating great revenue from it. Correspondingly, Under the Ottomans, who devised an elaborate administrative system, the distinctions disappeared between the Sharīʿah and administrative law codified as kanuns and kanunnamesi (collection of kanuns). In theory, kanuns were to harmonize with the prescription of the Sharīʿah, giving the ulama (men of religious learning) the right to invalidate any regulation that contradicted Islamic law. In practice, however, the ulama, organized in a hierarchy under the authority of the sultan, rarely repudiated his kanuns, thus giving the sultan freedom to legislate.
As with the documentary, it went into great detail about the conquest of the ottoman empire.
They explained very factual information about the military tactics used, as well as the history of the sultans. In these historical accounts of the Ottoman empire, the documentary uses credible historians and re-creates this amazing rise to the top. In simple terms, there was no real bias and the narrator's kept it very objective by only stating facts and explanations. These creators did not give opinions about the empire and kept it objective even in the cases of the Harems (sex slaves). Overall they did a great job reliving the experience of a surprising uprise in the ancient
world.
