Our Children Are Watching Persuasive Speech
“Our Children are Watching” According to Heather Brooke, a journalist who talks about how public uses manipulation in this quote said, “Public relations is at best promotion or manipulation, at worst evasion and outright deception. What it is never about is a free flow of information.” This statement goes with the ad “Role Models”. Even though “Role Models” follows Orwell’s writing rules, it uses fear and manipulation. In 2016 Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were running for President of United States. Hillary Clinton has been in the politics for a long time. She was the first U.S senate in 2001. From 2009 to 2013 she was the U.S secretary of the state. Hillary was the first lady to be nominated to become the president for a political party. On the other hand, Trump …show more content…
“Role Models” uses fear to target the people. It tries to scare people from showing what will happen if they vote for Trump. In Jack Solomon’s essay “Masters of Desire: The Culture of American Advertising” he talks about how ads show fantasies and use manipulation. For example, Jack Solomon said, “advertisers play on reflect back at us out fantasies about everything from fighter pilots to robots, they also play on darker imaginings. If dream and desire can be exploited in the quest for sales, so can nightmare and fear” (). This ad played a dark image like Jack said ads do to make people fear the future. This ad says, that the future of our children will be ruined if we vote for Trump. It also shows kids watching Trump talking on television with fear which is warning everyone about the future. In the ad Hillary says, “our children and grandchildren will look back at this time and the choices we are about to make, the goals we will strive for, the principles we will love by, and we need to make sure that they can be proud of us.” By saying this the ad is warning people about the future of their kids. Also manipulation is being used in the ad by showing clips of Trump talking in

I would not consider it an honor to be called a “muckraker” but I do think that it is important. I don’t think that it would be very honorable because you are trying to find out things that make people look bad. Then after you find something that could ruin the person’s life, it ends up all over the news and everyone knows about it. After that, the person or people are not going to like you because of what you did to them. That also makes you look bad as a person for doing that to people. Even though I don’t like muckrakers, I do think that what they do could be beneficial.…

The Crucible is a good portrayal of the events that happened. The vulgar acts of the townspeople to these ladies is profusely obscene. This would not happen today, people may get immensely worked up over things but they would never kill people like that. In today's society we still have radicals, but law enforcement would never let this happen. The peril of what happened back then is an abomination; it is a blemish on our country.…

According to Fowles, humans have a number of needs that appeal to their psyche. For example, the need for sex, affiliation, nurture, guidance, and physiological needs. He states that these basic needs, along with many others, are what influences society’s decision making. Fowles states, “ by giving form to people’s deep-lying desires and picturing states of being that individuals privately yearn for, advertisers have the best chance of arresting attention and affecting communication” (Fowles, 1998, p.1). Advertisers try implementing messages, both hidden and apparent, in these needs in hopes of trying to manipulate our decisions. For example, when Calvin Klein used Brooke Shields to model their clothing line, they were trying to target a young female audience. The advertisers were promoting the need for attention by using a sexual figure as a tool to target this particular audience.…

In 2011, Deamonte Driver, a 12 year old from Missouri, died after an infection from his molar spread to parts of his brain. He didn’t know that this infection existed, and his family couldn’t send their children to the hospital or the dentist to get it checked. Their Medicaid plan had lapsed, and the family had lost their home. Many children around the U.S. miss their well-child checkups each year. They may have never visited the hospital, even when they’re sick. This is why I have come to convince all of you to donate to my charitable organization, The Children’s Health Fund. Hillary is the democratic candidate and Donald is the republican. Trump’s policies have been very controversial through the process of this year's election. His views on things like immigration and self rights have worried people around the country. Another thing that has been questioned of his is his morals and character. He has been involved in many cases of domestic violence and many cases with women including assault. Is this the type of person we want in charge of our country? The democratic candidate Hillary Clinton has been caught many times lying about past actions. One example is her view on same sex marriage. Years ago she has talked about how she doesn’t believe it is right or should be legalized. What seems like what has happened is she changes her views according to what would get her more votes. These people would not be fit to be the…

People are tired of the same old sleazy lying politician who rely on promises they’ve made but not kept. According to a poll by U.S news 58% of Americans are tired of the regular lying politician who tells you what you want to hear, but hides the truth (Sullivan 2016). People are fed up with being lied to, fed up with empty promises. Furthermore, the thing that makes Donald Trump so great is that he’s not that, he is not a lying politician he is a business man who’s only goal is to Make America Great Again. When asked why he was running Trump’s response was, “ I want to Make America Great Again, I’m not doing it for the money or the title, I’m doing it because I care about this country and its future.” In other words, Trump brings an advantage to the table by being an “outsider” in the political world. Obviously, Trump brings something new to this presidential race but HIllary brings the experience card. For example, she went to Yale law school and was a top student there, she was a former first lady under Bill Clinton’s presidency, she won a seat in the U.S. Senate for New York and has run for president previously, losing to Barack Obama-who turned around and made her Secretary of State (Editorial Board, The Republican). Sure, she has a lot of experience but Trump would have to say “I agree – she’s got experience, but it’s bad experience," he said. “And this country can’t afford to have another four years of that kind of…

In the article “Propaganda Techniques in Today’s Advertising,” Ann McClintock argues that advertising has controlled our minds. She explains that people got brain washed because of the advertising on TV, Radio, Magazines, and much more. We let these advertisements keep coming to our home. We absorb their messages and images into our inner minds without any conscious. All these advertisements are using propaganda methods to persuade the people to buy their products or vote for any political man. She explains propaganda as a way to influence people’s opinion and make them believe in the advertisement and accept it. Also, some of the advertisement could be lies or illusions, but it’s whole purpose to make the buyers believe in their products.…
