Our Generation Research Paper
This generation is not more informed than the last. This generation is not more informed than the last generation because kids these days are more on social media than anything else, they don’t watch the news unlike their parents did, and they are more engaged with technology than the last generation.

One reason why this generation is not as informed than the last is that they are always on social media. “I don’t believe we are informed as we should be,’ Glenbard East sophomore Kelly Tautkus said. ‘ Our generation is all about texting, video games, how many likes we got on social media. It’s sad that more teens will know what the Kardashians are doing and have no idea what’s going in Syria or what the European immigration crisis is about.” This generation is more informed than the last because when they are social media they can get more informed on anything they want because social media doesn’t cover all the facts than the news, but it still gives you an idea on what it is. “We are a generation that is completely aware of everything that is going on,” Jones College Prep Junior Audrey James said.” That is why this generation is not as informed than the last generation.

“Unlike sitting down and watching the evening news, Twitter and Facebook provide users with the ability to pick and choose what information they see and investigate more closely. While this is a powerful tool, it requires responsible use to actually serve it’s purpose.” This generation is more informed than the last because because when they are Facebook and Twitter, the can get informed as much as if they were watching the news or reading the newspapers. This is why this generation is not as informed than the

"Facebook encourages narcissistic blabbering, video and Powerpoint have replaced carefully crafted essays" Clive Thompson, author of this excerpt, shows how social media as well as technology is disintegrating our level of knowledge. He states that the Z generation is the age of technology and children are not as aware of their surroundings as other generations. They do not read, their IQ scores have dropped, and the way they carry themselves shows that this is the dumbest generation.…

From a neutral perspective, the author possesses a definitive purpose but elicits wild generalizations upon the entire millennial generation, ultimately detracting authenticity and credibility as the author’s voice leaks into the article. Tyler is clearly well-versed in the subject and openly expresses her opinions as fact throughout her work; she smartly refrains from speaking in the first person, but with the inclusion of her opinions, she might as well use “I” in every argument. She begins the article with the inclusion that millennials have underdeveloped brains, are hopelessly reliant upon technology, and possess a cloud of over-attached parents. She assumes that this particular generation will wreak negative impacts on the workforce as she braces employers for the impending intrusion. For example, she opens her argument with youths’ inferiority. “Older generations that couldn’t wait to proclaim their independence can’t comprehend this generation’s need for parental guidance and influence” . The choice of small rhetorical choices ultimately guides the reader…

Though an extremely new medium, social media has seemed to completely alter the way Americans think, especially among the Millennial generation. It is another perfect example of how our lack of sense and reason has transformed something that was designed to increase our social capabilities into a way to rant, boast, and bully. Instead of using social media to communicate and connect positively, our society has used it to create countless issues and distractions that only deter and detract from developing our social…

The attention span of our generation is very low to say the least. Mcbride makes this point in the article by generalizing my generation of youth. I personally agree with this generalization. I have been a victim of this when accessing social media. If something does not appeal to you, then you will overlook it continuing to scroll down the newsfeed. This will cause us to miss out on many great things. This is why many businesses make their posts more relatable to their followers for promotional…

There is no justified evidence for defining a generation as the “dumbest”, since each year more information is discovered and past ideas are revised. There is also a grand difference between the difficulties one generation faced from the current in regards to learning. Although the current generation is at an advantage for straightforward information access, both generations are hindered if one neither is willing to reach out and enhance their mental…

Between the years 1909 and 1969 children were taken from their mothers/families at all times of day. Not just any child was taken, only children of Aboriginal status or children with a little bit of Aboriginal status, half caste. “It is estimated that between 50,000 to 100,000 Indigenous children were taken from their families...” (Lecture). The government had decided that the mothers/families that were Indigenous Aborigines were not fit for raising a family. The government wanted to breed out the Aboriginal people. From that they wanted to breed out all the Aboriginal people. These Aboriginal children were known as the Stolen Generation. The Stolen…

Mark Bauerlein, an English professor and researcher at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia claims that the current age group of people under 30, is the “dumbest generation” because of their lack of knowledge and skills. There have been many generations prior to the one now that was much less intelligent, so the generation under 30 years of age, can not be the least knowledgeable. (Source 2) The earliest generation does not lack intelligence, only it lacks the skills older generations had to really dig deep for. For starters, people claim that the younger the generation, the less intellect they have caused by the heavy use of new technology, athough that is not really the case.…

People even kill themselves to see a text or picture by texting and driving, if that doesn’t say “were the dumbest generation” I don’t know what does. Our youth is not growing up receiving the knowledge they should be, obviously. I wasn’t completely oblivious to it all, but then I read this article and realized it’s actually a lot worse than I really thought it was. Ray Williams is also right about the fact that “The new elite are the angry social media posters, the ones that can shout the loudest and more often, a clique of bullies and malcontents baying together like dogs cornering a fox” it’s disgusting to see the fact that someone like Kim Kardashian makes more money than someone important, such as a doctor, or a military member all because she made a sex tape. It really infuriates me to know that we have people out there giving their lives so our country can prosper, but all were doing is getting dumber and fatter, the worst part is that most citizens of the U.S.A. can’t even pass the citizenship…

This phenomenon was explained by the Flynn Effect. It was first discovered by James R. Flynn when he was trying to understand the connection between the US military test and the mainline IQ test. The Flynn Effect describes how over the past century, the average IQ in industrialized countries has risen to keep pace with the complexity of modern life (Lea Winerman). Our brains haven’t advance in any way significantly since 1930, but our ability to figure out a wider range of conceptual problems has. From 1900 to 2012, the average IQ has increased by 30 points. Which means that the average person today has a higher IQ than 95% of the population in 1900s. A study done in 2014, resulted in the conclusion that today’s young adults are better educated than the silent generation. Millennials are between 19-34 years old and the Silent generation are anywhere from 70-87 years old. The improvement in education in America is clear when you look at the 7 % of women from the silent generation who earned at least a bachelor’s degree. And compare it to the 27% of Millennial women who have already gotten there bachelor’s degree. The amount of Millennials women in America today with a Bachelor degree is almost four times higher than the Silent generation. If you look at men from both generations you will see an education gain from 12% to 21%. These results suggest that Millennials, especially women, are on their way to being the most educated generation by the time they complete their educational journeys (Eileen…

Knowing the learning styles and common characteristics of each generation will help create understanding and show the differences that each generation share in not only learning style but in life itself. The reason that this is important is because learning style changes from generation to generation. Understanding the differences can help educators to better teach the generations according to their needs. The issue is that educators are teaching the current and future generations, in a way that suited the needs of older generations such as the Baby Boomers and the Traditionalists, when the style of teaching should suit the needs of current generations. Information was collected from databases, journals, and studies. In the article “Understanding…
