"An operation or other procedure to terminate pregnancy before the foetus is viable." ( The English Dictionary)
There are many different arguments against and for abortion, although there are three main groups. There are those who believe abortion should be available on request (Pro-Choice), those who believe abortion is acceptable under some circumstances (Pro-Life), and those who believe that abortion is not acceptable.
Pro-abortionists would argue, it's a woman's right. She can do with her body as she wants. And since a foetus is not yet human, according to most supporters of abortion, its removal is simply taking out of a woman's body a part she no longer wants.
"Some argue that the mother has the right to dispose of her body as she wills, and the foetus is regarded as being merely a "tenant" or even an "aggressor" in her body. The woman is entitled to expel the foetus in defence of her own body." (Queensland Bioethics Centre.)
They also feel that every child has the right to be a wanted child, and that abortion saves thousands of children from being unwanted, and saves society from many problems.
"Humanists regard abortion as better than bringing unwanted babies in to the world. (Humanist Dipper.)
Some feel that it would be more traumatic giving up a baby for adoption than having an abortion. They also feel that every child has the right to be a wanted child, and that abortion saves thousands of children from being unwanted, and saves society from many problems.
"Women must have control over their own lives. For this we must have control over our own bodies.
...Abortion must become freely available to all women who want it. We must be able to have children when we want them, and children have the right to be wanted." (Women's Abortion and Contraception Campaign Manifesto.)
Pro-abortionists who believe abortion is right under some circumstances, would argue that, if the parents of the unborn baby, knew that this child would be severely handicapped (either physically or mentally), then they should be allowed to choose whether or not to have an abortion.
"It is expensive to look after mentally and physically handicapped children. So it is sensible to abort such children before they are born." (GCSE Religious Studies - website)
They may already have children and feel that this child would take up too much of their attention, and the others would not receive the attention they need.
"A woman who already has one or more children should not be made to have another child just because she becomes pregnant. An extra child in the family might cause her to have a mental breakdown. An extra child might also cause her to neglect her other children." (GCSE Religious Studies - website)
They also believe that if the pregnancy is a result of a rape, then abortion is the lesser of two evils, also if the mother's life is at risk, then abortion should be permitted.
"It is argued that in these tragic cases the great value of the mental health of a woman who becomes pregnant as a result of rape or incest can best be safe-guarded by abortion." (Christian answers.net)
These are only a few of the arguments for abortion, there are many more.

There are three main different views of the abortion debate. Most of the debate is if the fetus is considered a human or not is the main argument. For the pro-life side of the abortion debate, they mainly say that it should be considered human. Of course the pro-choice feel just the opposite usually. I personally, consider myself to be Pro-Life because I don’t think that we have enough information on the fetus and I could never consider killing a human (or even a fetus). I feel that the parents should have taken responsibility and taken the appropriate actions such as choosing abstinence, or at least using contraceptives. Hopefully, you will agree after looking at the opposition and their views/arguments against my view.…

Pro-abortion people supports the young lady that is fifteen years of age who lost her virginity and got pregnant just because she was not completely mindful of the results of her acts. The decision of her keeping the kid in most cases would bring about her getting kicked out of her home. She would be financially not able to support the newborn, and her entire education would be in vain and lost. With the abortion option,…

Pro-Choice). If someone is not affecting someone else’s reproductive system, you should not be able to make them do something to their own reproductive system. You should not try to change someone else’s body unless they gave you permission to, or they are trying to terminate them self. “An embryo/fetus in the mother’s womb is the mother’s property and she has the right to decide what to do with that property” (Hansom, the Pro-Life vs. Pro-Choice Debate). If anything the embryo is hers as it was attached and developed on her. The embryo is attached and depends on the mother for survival, without the mother the embryo will…

There are a mass amount of controversies when the word “abortion” is brought into awareness. This dispute has brought about both positive and negative affects on society. Abortion plays a major role in the everyday life of a human. People base their political parties, and even the jobs they choose to work at, all depending whether the host is pro-life or pro-choice. I personally am pro-life. I have made the decision of being pro-life based on multiple observations. Some of these observations include you are murdering your own child, you need to face the consequences of your actions, and to give people who are not able to have their own offspring a chance to be a mother/parent.…

Imagine a young child at the playground, slipping down a slide, swinging on the monkey bars, and laughing with glee. When a mother decides to get an abortion, that entire image goes away with a blink of an eye. What that mother might not know is her child might be the next person to cure cancer or be the greatest movie star of all time. The public is divided on this issue and they do not know if one should be pro-life or pro-choice. People that believe in pro-choice think the decision should be up to the mother. It is the mother’s body and she should have the right to decide what happens to it. However, every life matters and the child should not be in the cross fire of the mother’s decision. Abortion violates the child’s right to live and…

To start, pro-life advocates base their arguments off many factors, one being that babies are viable lives and have rights from the time of conception. As discussed earlier, the embryo, which is an organism in the earliest development stage, contains DNA in its chromosomes when it is concepted. By the fifth week of pregnancy, the embryo is rapidly growing and has now started to develop major organs, such as the heart and brain (Mayo Clinic Staff, par. 11). According to Baby Med, viability of pregnancy is based on the presence of a fetal heart beat, normally rising hCG levels, and the fact that the fetus is alive inside the womb. Baby Med also states that, typically, a hospital considers the 24th week of pregnancy to be the age of viability outside of the womb, though it is known for babies born younger than that to survive (“What Does …”, pars. 2-3). Despite the time mark that a baby can survive outside the womb, all unborn lives should be considered “viable” because as they age, the better chance they have at surviving outside the womb. Most unborn babies develop normally and will eventually develop into a healthy, viable child. Another key argument for the side of pro-life is the availability of alternative options for mothers pregnant with children they do not wish to raise. Adoption is a leading alternative for abortion. Adoption is a great option for mothers who do not want to raise their…

The pro-life side argues that nearly all abortions take place in the first trimester, when a fetus cannot exist independent of the mother. As it is attached by the placenta and umbilical cord, its health is dependent on her health, and cannot be regarded as a separate entity as it cannot exist outside her womb. The argument that pro-life states that in the instance of rape and incest, proper medical care can ensure that a woman will not get pregnant. Abortion punishes the unborn child who committed no crime; instead, it is the perpetrator who should be…

The conservative position commonly spends most of their time establishing that the fetus is a person, but the moral impermissibility of abortion doesn’t follow simply from the admission that the fetus (as a person) has the right to life. In her view, the right to life is to be understood as the right not to be killed unjustly and does not entail the right to use another person’s body. The fetus’ right to life outweighs the mothers right to decide what happens in and to her body unless the mother is in an extenuating circumstance in which she did not voluntarily become pregnant or the mother’s life in danger because of the fetus.…

Another argument that is often argued by those that are for abortion is, that it should be legalized because they believe that if a woman is pregnant she should have a choice to abort the unborn child. Some advocates believe that there are a number of reasons why a mother would choose to abort. One, reasons was that there may be something wrong with the child and the child to them might be better off never being born than being born and having a life with many serious problems. People who believe that abortion is moral tries to persuade others making them think about the emotional damage that the parents might go through as well as the child if they were born into this world with a health problem.…

they don't think women should have the right to abort an unborn child. These are the people who wish the funding would stop. They believe that the reasons women shouldn't be able to abort is that the mother is ending an unborn child's life and if the mother is old enough to get pregnant they are old enough to have the child. Some pro-life activists think that even if you have…

It is hard to find a single definition for the word “abortion.” Dictionary.com states that an abortion is also called voluntary abortion and it is the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy. However, google states that an abortion is defined as the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first twenty-eight weeks of pregnancy. On the contrary, Merriam Webster defines an abortion as a medical procedure used to end a pregnancy and cause the death of the fetus. Just reading these definitions begin the argument of whether or not abortion should be legal and if it is “morally” right. Abortion has become a popular topic of discussion across politics and within churches. Although both sides have valid arguments, it is up to the woman carrying the child to decide whether she will keep the child or not. No government, nor religion should force someone into making a decision they weren’t fully supportive of.…

How would it be like if you weren’t allowed to choose what happens to your future? Some women do not get the luxury of choosing for themselves due to some laws set and they do not get the option whatsoever. That should be different as women are the ones who carry the babies, not the ones who are voting against it. Even though the baby never had the chance to live life, women should have the right to choose what they want to do with their baby because it may be bad for the women herself to have to care of a baby, they may not be prepared for a baby, and we do not know their circumstances of the situation.…

Everybody has an inherent and undeniable right over their own body, but due to outlawing abortion the government aims to change that. Legalized in “1973” abortion became one of the most controversial issues in America. Many people believe that it's murder and isn't right considering the fetus doesn't have a say in the matter. These people tend to be poorly informed and have a religious background, but in other words they aren’t reliable sources. Any well informed American would understand that women should always have this right no matter the situation. This is why “socialists argue that all women deserve the right to control their own bodies, without interference from anyone”(“Abortion: Every Woman’s Right”.). Arguments against abortion are based on the belief that an abortion is the unjustified killing of an unborn shild. When people are thinking about abortion I think that they need to look into a childs eyes and think about it little bit harder and think if they could see that child dead, because that is how there child would be. Most people who oppose abortion believe that the human life begins as soon as the sperm fertalizes the womans egg. Some believe that human embryos and fetuses have a legal right and that abortion is an actual form of murder.…
