Introduction

The seduced includes those with enough money to buy goods and services but also those with something to sell to a lucrative market, the employed, younger people, older people with good pensions.
The repressed – This group in Zygmunts terms describes the unemployed, the low paid, those in insecure or casual employment, recently arrived migrants, people with disabilities. Income is a huge factor and it defines whether a person is in the category of the seduced or the repressed.
The opportunities for the repressed in my opinion are limited, they may be excluded from social events, they may not be able to afford to join in with social groups and they may have to spend the money that they have on essential items such as food, clothing, heating etc whereas the seduced will be more easily able to afford and fit in with the consumer society of high class.
