Overcoming An Obstacle Analysis
Numerous people believe that any obstacle or disadvantage can be turned into something good, but I believe the opposite. For it wouldn’t be an obstacle in the first place, if it could be an advantage. But everyone has their own perspective , and this affects them in how they see life and react to situations. Some people say that any obstacle or disadvantage can be turned into an advantage, but in reality you can't use the same disadvantage and alter it, you have to find another method/path to find your goal or find a solution. For example, you take an assessment to infiltrate the police academy and bungle it. Consequently, you either give up or you retake the assessment, but this time you study harder. As an effect, you end up passing the …show more content…
For example, Sofia ,a artist, is diagnosed with schizophrenia, and has hallucinations. Consequently, she finds a method to cope with the hallucinations and also use them to her advantage. As an effect, she draws her hallucinations. As a result, Sofia draws her hallucinations , which have become popular to the world ;therefore, she uses her illness to her advantage ,and has become something positive in her life. In this perspective, it agrees on the opinion that an obstacle or disadvantage can be something good ,but depending of the situation and one's self. Furthermore there is some certain things that can can't be positive. For example, Diego has recently been diagnosed of cancer, and will go through chemo. Consequently, Diego starts losing hair ,and starts feeling the side effects of the chemo. As en effect, Diego suffers from the side effects, and starts feeling more negative than positive ;therefore, the people around him are also affected emotionally. As a result, Diego does not find this obstacle/disadvantage positive, or tries to make this positive for in his situation there is nothing he can do for it to completely turn

Adversity can bring out the positive and negative sides in a person. In “The Proof of Worth,” Edgar Albert Guest demonstrates how challenges in life can help someone understand what he or she is capable of during a hardship. Similarly, “The Importance of Adversity in Growth and Development” written by Patrick Kohan exemplifies how children will never learn how to conquer an obstacle if they are always given assistance. Furthermore, Laura Hillenbrand’s novel, Unbroken, indicates that experiencing problems can affect the way a person’s body reacts and thinks about a difficult moment. Ultimately, the authors highlight that obstacles can be a complex or helpful task, as well as benefit people in the future when they need to know their true talents.…

“Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.” What the Roman poet Horace was saying was that when there is an obstacle in our way, our true colors will radiate. I could not agree more. When we as human beings feel passionate about achieving a goal, we may learn something new of ourselves, maybe a new trait that we did not know we possessed, when we reach new heights we did not know we could push ourselves towards. Challenges are similar to tests. Challenges are faced every day, but how we respond to them determines how strong we really are. Prime examples are superheroes and students that move dramatically.…

Overcoming Obstacles Makes Better Individuals “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome” (Booker T. Washington). Obstacles are a required part of life if you wish to grow and develop. If you do not face challenges, you will not become a strong person. Individuals pushing to achieve the goals we set and overcoming the roadblocks ahead of us are what make us who we are. In the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and in my own personal experience, people encounter obstacles, and eventually overcome them.…

Every obstacle can be turned into an opportunity through perseverance and dedication. Human nature is associated with the stubbornness to succeed. For example, Harriet Tubman did not let any racial barriers overthrow her. Also, during the colonial period the colonists did not allow themselves to be dominated by the British. Another example is of Andrew Carnegie who headed the Carnegie Steel Industry in the nineteenth century.…

Adversities always occur throughout a person’s life, and they are a positive input on people’s lives. Adversity actually creates the best runners, as a tribe in Africa uses special tactics to always win marathons. They go through an initiation that if they don’t endure they are labeled a coward. The adversity creates an “enormous social pressure placed on your ability to endure pain is actually great training for a sport like running where "pushing through pain" is so fundamental to success”(Warner). Though it may seem like a negative experience at the time, it turns out to be beneficial in the long run. An example was that one of the runners from this tribe won a marathon while he had a gallbladder infection, which are extremely painful. He was able to make it through the marathon because he had experienced much more pain than what he was enduring right then back at home. Adversities are a positive input on a person’s life and they can use the experience from them for future problems. Adversities are positive in To Kill a Mockingbird, as well. Since Scout learned about how to treat people, it helped her come of age successfully. As said in the famous quote from To Kill a Mockingbird about crawling into someone else’s skin and walking around in it, Atticus tells Scout an important lesson about how to see the world maturely. The lesson Atticus taught her, helped her think more maturely about Tom Robinson’s situation, and to not have prejudice. Her struggle with Walter Cunningham helped her learn a lesson that she used later, and helped her come-of-age. Adversity was a positive impact on Scout Finch’s…

Adversity helps to build strong people and individuals and it gives them strength after they overcome their obstacles. Obstacles that are difficult to get through may provide new opportunities in a person’s life, and even though it can be argued that adversity has more negative effects that positive, adversity also unites people. Adversity brings people together with a common goal to face hardships that will create stronger bonds between people who may come from many different walks of…
