The Social Security Administration is sometimes predisposition depending on the prevailing circumstances. Specifically, policy changes are not taken into consideration by the Social Security Administration. At the Social Security Administration, policy are given priority rather than the concerned and welfare of the citizenry. System theory may be used by the Social Security Administration in term of inclination to experiment with new comportments and to adopt those mechanism that seem to be more effective and pragmatic. For instance, the organizational behavior theory that Enron should have followed was the systems theory. “ Systematic explanations look for causes outside the group, for example in the environmental forces that drive or direct groups or individuals to do one thing rather than another” (Judge, & Robbins, 2007). Systems theory is the foundation that all components of an organization are interrelated, and that one variable can change or have an…

Historian Barton J. Bernstein claimed that the New Deal "did not transform the American System… It failed to raise the impoverished, it failed to redistribute income, it failed to extend equality and generally countenanced racial discrimination… It failed generally to make business more responsible to the social welfare or to threaten business ' pre-eminent political power." Although he makes valid points in his argument, I personally have to disagree with him. First, The New Deal did indeed transform the American System in many ways. Second, it did achieve to extend some equality to those who were racially discriminated. Finally, it did make business more responsible to social welfare. The New Deal allowed the American Government to expand its role, thus transforming the American System.…

The employment-at-will doctrine states that, when an employee does not have a written employment contract and the term of employment is of indefinite duration, the employer can terminate the employee for good cause, bad cause, or no cause. The employment-at-will doctrine also states that an employee is hired based on his/her will and may choose to leave at any time after post-employment. The same applies to the employers in the sense that they can fire her for good cause, bad cause or no cause. The employer does not hold any legal liability as long as no contract was signed upon employment. There is an exception that states that an employer may not terminate the employee if public policy supports the employee. In this case where this employee is not protected under public policy and since she cannot perform her duties, she should be fired. The second exception to the will is an implied contract, which is a verbal agreement between the two parties.…

By third rail, various scholars explain that if a politician these days were to try to alter or change the structure of the law dramatically, then they could essentially destroy their political career. One must understand how the United States gained this transformative law through our country’s history, both the official and non official actors involved in enacting the act, different alternatives to the policy, how it was implemented, and the changes it has faced since 1935. Every step taken from the emerging issue that brought the Social Security Act to life, to the controversies it faces today; have to be…

Initially created during the New Deal, it was a compassionate program to help prevent elderly people from being destitute and was founded on a sound economic model. However, the government’s failure to predict life expectancy and demographic changes, programs expansions to include people with disabilities, and other added benefits have made the program much more expensive and put Social Security in jeopardy of being financially unstable.…

The final stage in the policy in the policy making is the Evaluation Stage, and it is the effectiveness of the new laws. The policy research can play a responsibility in assessing, which new program has a problem or a change in behavior. Social Security evaluation generally takes surveys of the socioeconomic population, whose benefits that were changed. When the new policy is implemented, advocates, opponents or other “interested parties” begin to consider the consequences of the decision and its implementation (Cockrel, 97). The Social Security Administration relies on the population surveys’ taken by the Census for the data information on the elderly and disabled populations. This evaluation is sent to the Office of Research and Statistics of the Social Security Administration. The evaluation is in three parts: the completion of the study, identify gaps that should be filled before the retirement age becomes effective and the further research to fill the gaps.
