Under the PAMANA project, the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) is tasked to implement the livelihood component of PAMANA’s development interventions. It is a community-based capacity building program that seeks to improve the socio-economic status of program beneficiaries. It will promote peace by creating spaces and opportunities for the mitigation of violent conflicts and promotion of peace. It employs a Community-Driven Enterprise Development (CDED) which equips beneficiaries to actively contribute to production and labor markets by making use of available resources. With this, 27 barangays of Lebak and 15 barangays of Kalamansig were granted with P300,000 pesos each for their community identified livelihood projects. The solar dryers granted to each barangays will greatly assist our farmers to save up on feeds and in paying rent for private owners’ solar dryers since their main products were rice and corn. The construction of post-harvest facilities such as warehouses to store palay will serve as protective area during the rainy season. The whole community can share in the use of these facilities and thus help them in saving money. These programs do not only alleviate the living condition of the selected communities but also forms part in the growing economy of our government specifically in the agriculture sector. Our support for the peace process is in line with our goals of ending extreme poverty and building shared prosperity.
