Parapsychology Research Paper
Parapsychology can be defined as the branch of psychology that deals with behavior which cannot now be explained or described in terms of known physical principles. It, just like any other branch of science, has smaller divisions, being psychokinesis and extrasensory perception. Psychokinesis is the ability of a person to influence a physical system without physical interaction. Extrasensory perception, more commonly referred to as ESP, is the knowledge of or responds to an external event or influence not apprehended through known sensory channels. ESP is nothing new to humanity. Thousands of movies- Matilda, The Sixth Sense, and the Final Destination series- have all tinkered along the lines of what ESP is. For instances, in the Final Destination series, a character had a vision about what would happen before the event occurred. This allowed them to escape the danger and impending death. This ability to tell the future is known as precognition, and is just one of several abilities that fall under ESP. Another ability is telepathy, communication of thoughts and ideas by means other that the senses. For the purpose of this essay, Extrasensory Perception will be the main division that will be talked …show more content…
There would be no need to watch what you say around each other in the fear that it would offend them because you would know what is can and cannot be said. Unnecessary wars that start because of a break down in communication would no longer be a problem because the persons involved are able to understand what point of view the other is coming from. There would no longer be thousands of groups researching the same problem, instead they would come together to find solutions to problems that have always been around. Advancements in technology, health care, and global warming would occur at resounding speed to make the world, and its future inhabitants, the best it can

The first psychological theory I am using is the Psychodynamic Approach which was created by Sigmund Freud, Freud believed that early childhood experiences give an explanation for the behaviour you have when you are an adult, he believed that you develop a mental and emotional state from birth to adolescence which is when your personality is set as you have been influenced by family and friends at this point in life. In this theory there are three levels of mind. The first level of mind is conscious, this is where we think and become aware of what is around us, the second level of mind is pre-conscious, this is where we store memories and information that is important to us, we can access this information at anytime with some encouragement,…

The world is well aware with these terms stated above- stereotypes, prejudice, and discriminate. These three terms are used to further create inequality between people based on their inner and outer characteristics. Specifically the inequallities which are most common are based on races or gender. Being a stereotype means to generate an oversimplified representation of a particular type of a person. This type of an act is superficial and can lead to prejudice, buy thinking that information gathered by sterotypes is suffice you become prejudice and thus naïve and judgemental. When you make judgmets you automatically discriminate. In a nutshell. Stereotyping leads to prejudice, which ultimately leads to dicrimination. However, every individual is different, and just because they have similarites or differences with others doesn't directly mean they're exactly like them. This act of assumption may lead to a disagreement or bias, making you pass judgments without any verification. Thus, you end up discriminating.…

I will be discussing the controversy over Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (HDHD). Some psychologists believe that Attention- Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is defined as a combination of problems, such as difficulty sustaining attention, hyperactivity and impulsive behavior. Some psychologists believe that Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a “fictitious disease”. Others believe that it is a psychological disease that explains a psychological disorder. Those that believe that Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity disorder is a “fictitious disease”, have argued that ADHD was just a theory by Leon Eisenberg, but was never actually proven to exist as a verifiable disease. It has also been said that modern psychiatry continues to profit as well, helping also to fill the coffers of the pharmaceutical industry by getting children addicted at an early age to dangerous psychostimulant drugs like Ritalin and Adderall. (Martino) Dr. Edward C. Hamlyn, a founding member of the Royal College of General Practitioners, stated that “ADHD is fraud intended to justify starting children on a life of drug addiction.” (Martino) Those professionals that do believe that ADHD is real have stated that nearly every mainstream medical, psychological, and educational organization in the United States long ago concluded that Attention- Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a real, brain-based medical disorder. I do believe that ADHD is a real diagnosis and can be treated effectively.…
