Dear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome to kindergarten! I am pleased and excited to work with your son/daughter this year. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Katie Morgan. I graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with an EC-6 Generalist Bachelors of Arts degree. This year will be my fist year teaching in public schools. I am delighted to say this year is going to be full of exciting experiences for everyone. I know that together we can provide your child with the knowledge, independence, and self-confidence that he/she will need to prepare for the experiences he/she will encounter in the future.
I am aware that it is a really big transition from being at home with mom and dad to spending hours in a classroom. Many parent and children may have some apprehension about kindergarten. It may take children three or four weeks to adjust to the new learning environment and new routines. Please be patient with us as while we are adjusting. My goal is for your son/daughter to become comfortable with me and his or her new learning environment so that we can make this a positive year for you and your child.
The first few weeks of school will consist of getting to know each other. Creating community is a large part of beginning a new school year. As a reminder, attendance is important in kindergarten. We are learning new things every day! What we do in class involves active participation. It is very important that your child attends class each day. However, I do realize that sickness, family emergencies, and doctor’s appointments do occur. Whenever possible, your child’s school work will be saved for him/her to complete upon return to school. Attached is a list of the classroom rules, procedures and consequences.
I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns. You can send me a note to school
