Parkour Persuasive Speech
Today ill be talking to you about Parkour. A dangerous activity but bery beautiful at the same time… The question is is it a sport or an art?

I personally think parkour is a sport because it demands extreme force and its way harder than golf or even baseball… You have to be in very good conditions physically and have a brave mentality.

I can understand people that see parkour like an art because of the imagination you need to have and the beauty of the flips and jumps but if you analyze it well you realise that you cannot be out of shape to do this activity... In one hour of parkour you very easily can lose in between 700 and 1500 calories. Honestly think me being a soccer player I don’t have the strength and technique to do parkour. Parkour

Hey Xoe, please talk to your following about Standing Rock. More people need to know about what’s happening, because it’s horrible. It seems as though our native people are losing once again. Police are tormenting them on their land. I’m not sure if you know about what is happening, but I feel like it’s important to know, or to educate as many people as possible on the subject. A short summary of this situation would be that there is a an oil pipeline being put through the Standing Rock reservation in North and South Dakota. If you didn’t know oil pipelines have high rates of leaking which would cause the Native Americans living there not be able to use the natural water sources such a lake and rivers. The pipes also will most likely exploded,…

When a person thinks of the word ‘sport’ their minds go to the big three: baseball, basketball, and football. Webster’s dictionary defines a sport as “an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.” Most activities are either a sport or they are not. It’s simple, but there is one that tends to confuse people, cheerleading. People cannot agree on whether cheerleading takes on the task of being a sport. A reason some people may not know might be a result of them not understanding cheer.…

I’m not saying that danger should define something as a sport, but, when deciding whether or not something is a sport danger should be a factor. Another item to think about when deciding if cheerleading should be a sport or not, is to think about what activities are already considered sports. Chess, poker, and bowling are considered sports and they take very little physical prowess. Someone doesn’t even need legs to play chess or poker. Bowling only takes being able to actually pick up the ball and throw it down the lane. One other “sport” that I think doesn’t deserve its label as a sport is curling. Curling is an Olympic sport where someone slides a stone down a lane of ice and his or her team members try the sweep the ice in front of the stone with a broom. All of these activities are fun, but I don’t think they should be considered sports. I feel if stone gliding is considered an Olympic sport, then doing aerial flips, cheering, and tossing people in the air should definitely…

Even the most famous of sports stars need medical intervention when their hips fail, and Pele the soccer star is an example of this. He has just had corrective surgery for a replacement hip received in 2012. A replacement hip means that after recovery you can once again live a pain-free existence and walking will be a lot easier, but you're not immediately going to be able to leap out of bed after surgery and run laps around the hospital ward. Physiotherapy is going to help you put your best foot forward with your new hip, so what does that mean for you exactly?…

    Why Is Dance A Sport

In football or baseball games, teams compete one on one. Chris Altonji’s argument states that dancers do not engage in one on one competition. According to, “Is dance a sport? Opposing perspectives from dancer and football player”, “These competitions involve multiple teams taking their turns performing their dance; one team does their rendition of a high-tempo mash up of the currently most played pop songs, and then the next team does theirs. Never are two teams performing directly against each other. Because two teams are never competing directly against each other, there are no variables except yourself, your teammates, and maybe the ground”(Altonji). Although one on one competition is not a part of competitive dance, studios still register dances which are given a score and a ranking. Teams are competing against multiple others at the same time. Madison Linnihan argues that dance is considered an art, rather than a sport. In “Dance Is Not a Sport”, it states, “Dance is physical exertion and skill that is capable of tapping into an audience's emotions to make them feel a specific way. That's art, plain and simple”(Linnihan) While it is true that dance is used to bring emotion to their audience or tell the story of a song, the physical segment of dance is that of a sport. Although parts of their viewpoints are valid, dance should be considered a sport based on the physicality needed to do…

    Is Cheerleading A Sport

There aren’t as many good reasons why it isn’t a sport, but there are millions of reasons why it is a sport. A good reason why it’s a sport is that cheerleading will be in the 2020 Olympics. But some may say the cheerleading isn’t a sport because the competition isn’t the main goal, stunts isn’t hard or dangerous, and doesn’t practice as a group all the time, or doesn’t travel or doesn’t practice for more than 30 minutes. Cheerleading competition isn’t the main goal. But at the cheer competition teams win against each other and win titles, competitive cheerleading is it’s own own thing , and the pressure builds up so the groups do bigger stunts, harder tumbling passes, and more dance routines to take home coveted state and national titles (Alex 1). Stunting isn’t hard or dangerous. This is a false statement because throwing girls in the air and catching the flyer is difficult, if a base doesn’t catch the flyer, the flyer could fall and hurt itself. Also it takes hours to flyer the flyer in the air and learn new stunts. Stunting is scary because a flyer is being thrown in the air for the bases and back spot to catch. It’s hard to see how the flyer is going to fall into the bases arms and it’s very dangerous. Each year there is tons of ER trips because of the stunt groups. “The flyer can be injured if they aren’t caught correctly (or at all) by their bases,…

What is the definition of a sport? A sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team is competing against one another to win. The sport cheerleading contains a wide range of physical exertion including: tumbling, various jumps and tricks, stunting, and choreographic dances, thus resulting in needing great stamina. Another reason cheerleading is a sport is the preparation time involved, and the athletic scholarship opportunities competing as a cheerleader presents. I absolutely had to use a photo of Princess Diana because I was a huge fan of hers. I remember watching her wedding on television when I was a young child, and I cried like a baby when she met her untimely demise. I don't recall every crying like that when a celebrity died, but she was my heroine and I loved her! Since then I've kept up with the ins and outs of the Royal Family and the shenanigans of Prince Harry, my now favorite Prince. He is a Princess Diana reincarnated in the male form. Lives by his own rules and with not a care in the world. Madison and I were able to visit the Madame Tussauds London museum while on our trip to London just recently, thanks to the kind folks of Merlin Entertainment. Since this is most likely the only way we'll ever get to the meet the Royal Family we just had to do it. Now if you're thinking all wax museums are the same, well Madame Tussauds London is on a whole new level of awesome. I've…
