Pastor Durbin's Abortion Debate
An alleged Satanist has resorted to ringing a cowbell to interrupt a Christian pastor who regularly stands outside a Planned Parenthood in Arizona to try to convince women not to undergo abortions.
In a video shared by Christian Broadcasting Network, the gathering of a group of pro-life Christians outside a Planned Parenthood clinic was interrupted by a cowbell-wielding supporter of the abortion giant. Pastor Jeff Durbin is seen calmly talking and pleading with the woman to have a conversation, but she only responds with vulgarity and continuous ringing of her cowbell.
“I have the ability to engage, but I don’t engage with crazy,” the woman said before letting out a string of profanities.
For Durbin, the interaction with the woman is a scene that “the world must see.” He explained that such encounters are not

For several more minutes, she continued to cackle and ring the cowbell before exiting the scene.
In an article published on Feb. 27, Metro describes Pastor Durbin as a person with “resolutely old school” views. The publication says the Arizona-based minister believes that abortion should be treated as a murder and that women who terminate their pregnancy ought to be executed.
In addition, Durbin reportedly pickets Planned Parenthood facilities bearing signs that read “Babies are murdered here.” He also drew controversy when he compared abortion to “modern day Holocaust,” and added that the number of abortion victims since the landmark Roe v Wade ruling pale by a metric tonne in comparison to Hitler’s victims in Nazi Germany.
Durbin believes that there is no situation where abortion is acceptable --- not even rape, incest, or medical conditions where terminating the life of the fetus is necessary to save the mother’s life. While he admits that rape is a violation of a human body, he contends that abortion is also a similar

The visual appeared in a New York Times article on October 9th, 2009. The target audience for the source are persons who are interested in keeping up to date with current events of the United States of America and the world. The visual is of a little girl wearing a pink dress holding a sign which reads “Planned Parenthood Kills Babies.” The background is a regular suburban neighbourhood. It made me think of death immediately thus appealing more to my emotions first than anything else. My second thought was how “planned parenthood” killed babies. The photo was taken by Stephen McGee for the New York Times…

This strategy was used by Republican Bob Dole against the Democrat Bill Roy during the 1974 senate race in Kansas. Towards the end of the election Bill Roy was winning in the race and Dole, following the Roe v. Wade decision was the first to ever use abortion as an campaign issue (Rose). Bill Roy was a doctor himself and Dole attack Roy for having performed “thousands of abortions.” This caused mass outrage towards Roy right before the election leading to swarms of Republican volunteers protesting Roy at church parking lots and distributing flyers to everyone labeling Roy as a “baby killer” (Rose). This powerful technique was Roy Moore’s last-ditch effort to get himself elected. Roy Moore commanded grass root efforts to spread flyers and his TV/twitter ad titled “WE DARE DEFEND LIFE” to present Doug Jones as strong believer in abortions (Fisher). The “WE DARE DEFEND LIFE” ad was posted on December 10th and highlights the development of a baby and the human like features of fetuses. These features highlighted by the ad included a fetuses ability to hear a mother’s voice, form fingerprints and to dream. After describing the fully-grown aspects of a fetus Moore compares this too the statement “Doug Jones wants abortion to be allowed until the moment before birth” (“We Dare”). Then the statement “But here in Alabama we dare to defend our rights, freedoms and life” is shown with images of babies with their mothers and inspiring music in the background. This ad was especially powerful and marked a essential last ditch effort for Moore’s campaign as just over 58% of Alabamian residents believe that abortions should be illegal in all cases (“Views about”). By presenting the idea that Doug Jones may support abortion, Moore raised a serious dilemma for Alabamian voters. For many the issue of abortion is a very serious one, especially in the very Christian state of Alabama made up of…

    Planned Parenthood Summary

Planned Parenthood itself isn’t necessarily the problem, but the people that oppose it. Christian Policy Analysist, Sarah Torre, has many things to say on the issue of Planned Parenthood, although she doesn’t necessarily try to see it from a side other than hers. While reflecting upon rumors about Planned Parenthood selling tissue and body parts of unborn babies, Torre presents that government funding needs to be cut entirely from the organization. She supports her argument by making claims such as Planned Parenthood has enough money, and that there are enough other places for women to get the care and services provided there. Being the leading abortion provider in the US is the authors top reason, however, for prompting her “defund Planned Parenthood” campaign, even though abortions only make up about 3% of all services provided. She claims it is immoral for taxpayers, especially those who are against abortion, to be required to pay for an affiliation that provides the very thing they are so much against. The fact seems to be forgotten that although not everybody believes that healthcare, such as programs provided by the Affordable Care Act, are not approved or liked by everyone. Even so, everybody has to pay taxes that fund these programs, and really how is it different from taxpayers money going to Planned Parenthood? Although she is a woman, Torre seems to have forgotten the battles waged in order for women to have free reign of their own bodies, including the right to choose whether or not they should abort a baby that is unwanted. American’s in general need to realize that women should not be dictated by men, or other women for that matter, no matter where they are coming from. Opinions are not always wanted, and just because someone believes something does not make it right for them to force their beliefs onto other people. Americans need to have…

Wendy Davis “kick-started” her campaign by standing in a court room for 11 hours straight talking about putting a ban on abortion after 20 weeks. The exception Davis advocated for would be more broad than the abortion law in Texas today. Allowing women to abort for a bigger range of medical issues, including a wider range of fetal abnormalities. “Texas only allowing post-20-week abortions in the case of fetal abnormality with "severe, irreversible brain impairment" and threats to a woman's life.” (Amanda Marcotte, Wendy Davis, Hero to the Pro-Choice Movement) During Davis’ 11-hour filibuster, many people stayed to the very last minute.…

The supporters of pro-life base their argument that the fetus is a human; therefore, not only is abortion killing a human wrong, but it is also illegal. They consider the fetus human because it grows like any other human, which is why the followers of pro-life are trying to get abortion illegal. It is wrong in every sense to kill another human being. Likewise, people that kill other people have to go to prison, yet these mothers of these kids get let off. The Supreme Court case in Texas involving abortion is the first step to try and stop the murder of innocent lives. The new law on abortion is asking for tighter abortion laws that led to more abortion clinics closing. It is hoping to “eliminate legal abortion.” 3 This will lead to closings of clinics all around the country and not just in Texas. Texas is even starting to see a change in the number of clinics these past few years from the new law that was placed in 2013. “Texas is now home to 17 abortion clinic, down from 41 in 2012, just before the law was passed.”4 Besides the closing of abortions clinics all over Texas, the state is hoping that increasing the price of getting an abortion by fifteen percent will scare these young ladies from getting the procedure done. The whole point of this new law will hopefully make the mother’s rethink their decision when they have to drive a far distance to get an abortion and have to pay quite a bit of…

“Abortions represent 3% of total services provided by Planned Parenthood” (Robertson). Yet why is there such a huge controversy over the need to defund this corporation that provides health care to thousands of young adults around the nation? There are many arguments as to why Planned Parenthood should be defunded, including the claim that, “Planned Parenthood is illegally trafficking human body parts” (Roys). Despite the repeated blows towards this health institution, there are also justifiable reasons as to why Planned Parenthood is a beneficial establishment for young adults searching for affordable health care. Furthermore, there are also numerous religious groups…

Thus, the war to defund Planned Parenthood becomes a war to end access to safe and legal abortions. Anyone who blindly believes that Planned Parenthood is all about abortions is apathetic, who has absolutely zero knowledge on the subject matter. Planned Parenthood is not all about abortions; in fact, according to its website, only three percent of its services are abortions. Out of the one million abortions conducted in the United States per year, Planned Parenthood roughly only performs 30 percent of them. Not to mention the common misbelief surrounding the idea that federal tax money goes towards performing these abortions, so by defunding the organization abortions would decrease. However, through the Hyde Amendment, federal money is not being and cannot be used to perform abortions with the exception of “rape, incest or when a woman’s life is in peril” (“5 Things to Know about the Planned Parenthood Fight in Congress”). Similarly, an incriminating piece of the Planned Parenthood debate includes the controversial videos from 2015, which accused Planned Parenthood of discussing the sale of fetal tissue. Since, Planned Parenthood has apologized for the videos, but states that it has, “broken no laws” since it does not sell fetal tissue, but rather donate and that it is, “among many organizations assisting fetal tissue…
