Pebble Creek is a senior only community within the city limits of Goodyear, AZ. The subdivision is not open to the general public, allowing only residents and guests of residents to use the grounds and amenities (Welcome to Pebble Creek). This paper will discuss Pebble Creek’s population’s health needs, including any environmental needs, identifying appropriate intervention strategies, and suggestions for evaluation of the effectiveness of interventions. A description of the assessment methods used in evaluating the population’s health needs will be given, including the windshield survey, interviews, secondary analysis of data, etc. The paper will then prioritize three community needs, with rationale for priority ranking and identify at least one goal for each of the three top needs. The predominate ethnicity appeared to be Caucasian, with little or no evidence of ethnic dominance or religion. Many of the residents appeared healthy with little or no signs of acute or chronic illness. There were acceptations for those who are much older who needed assisted living help. Additionally, many of the residents were observed consuming alcohol in the facilities, on the golf course, and within the boundaries of the community.
Pebble Creek, like many retirement communities has many needs. Although many of the residents are happy and surrounded by friends and family, many more are not. A major community need that is an issue within the development is residents becoming acclimated to their new surroundings, followed by residents the use of alcohol and an above average incidence of sexually transmitted disease.
