that is incorrect and how people think he or she are actually are. Misconceptions and stereotypes often come from social media and commercials to make people believe or get their attention. People often use misconceptions and stereotypes to socialize what the individual are. The key of an Oncologist is to help someone that knows the stages of the disease, knowing the treatments, medicines and surgeries available. Stereotypes are used to categorize a group of people, it is a widely mental picture of a particular way. Misconceptions are a view based on false truth. Misconceptions exist everywhere in society from a personal observation on a variety of different groups. There's a bunch of stereotypes and misconceptions in this world. For example a stereotype would be that all women love the color pink and only women can be nurses. However, this is wrong since there are men who love the color pink and there are also men who are nurses working at a facility. All stereotypes are not usually treated in a different way from other groups, but also does involves any judgment in the group. Stereotypes and misconceptions happen every single day due to how people think other people are and how each individual act. Another example of misconceptions is that people with tattoos are criminals. Mostly people with tattoos are nice and very friendly. Another example of a common misconceptions is that blondes are dumb. Yet in medical fields they are many blondes women conducting many complicated surgeries which prove that they are not dumb. Waking up in the morning, a women starts by getting dressed, putting her usual scrubs on, and gets ready to start her day at work at the children’s place. Getting her supplies ready like her stethoscope, notepad, nametag, and a black pen. As she enters the hospital and goes in her office she inspects her emails. She may also check in with the staff of any appointments the patients may have. After she finishes all of the nurses will have a daily meeting about something important. After the meeting is done all of the nurses will begin to see their patients and making sure they are happy and having an amazing time. By the evening, the patient's appointments finishes and the nurse took notes while her patient was undergoing surgery. Some of the Oncologist work twenty four seven while others only work for eight hours. Later at night, she goes straight to her office and starts writing down the stuff that has happened to her patients like how well her results where or how it didn't went well. A women or guys that works in a facility get mistreated such like why do these people work here, that guy or women do not look smart to work here. I could relate to my group since in the future since I would want to be an Oncologist for children. Oncologist have stereotypes and misconceptions. As of right now, when I did some research, Oncologist are very busy and very independent because they always count on the patient's family and caring. Pediatric oncologist is the field of medicine which specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers and tumors in children under the age of 18 who are suffering. This job also involves communication with parents or guardian regarding his or her condition. I want to be an Oncologist in the future because I love kids and this specific kind of job because it involves serious of business and communication. According to eHow online article, What is a Pediatric Oncologist, by Linda Hinkie she states that “Pediatric oncologist has been developed since the 1950’s and 1960’s and she also says that Pediatric oncologist usually practices in children’s hospitals and facilities”. This means that every individual who want to work as a Pediatric has to put effort work hard and have to multitask a lot. As being an independent woman that I am right now I would love this job because it is very busy and I love multitasking. Everyday in life when someone needs something to translate, I am always helping others with directions, making sure the individual knows what they are doing and making sure the person needs more questions answered. As of right now, one of my cousin is a nurse working at a hospital and she told me that she loved her job because of how her patients act and has told her stories about how the individual got the disease. She also told me that some of her patients cry because he or she got the disease out of nowhere and scientist haven't figured out what can cure this awful disease that kills innocent lives in the whole world. Some misconceptions that are true is that Oncologist do care about their patients whether they are sick or non sick. There is a bunch of misconceptions out there that are true but some may be incorrect. People started to stereotype this group as scary job and a hard job due to how smart the person in the career has to be. Some people do not think this is like a job due to how the oncologist have to say that their diagnosed with an awful disease. Unfortunately, this is wrong because in facilities or children hospital, there is oncologist that love their job and make their patients smile and laugh a lot. Some might have met an oncologist at a hospital and have said that they are nice and caring for their patients. The other stereotype that were given to this group is that chemotherapy does not cure them. First of all chemotherapy may work on certain people and cure them but some may not cure them or work. If all oncologist give them their patient's treatment, the individuals with not go to the 4 stages of cancer. Another stereotype is that Oncologist do not care for their patients. Oncologist do care about their patients health because of how the cancer is affecting their lifestyle. The oncologist will do whatever they need to make their patients happy and making them smile. Oncologist need to be better understood because of how the they work all day to their patients treatments and medicines. There is a lot of stereotypes and misconceptions for an oncologist all around the world and people make assumptions about them. As an Oncologist they play a big role in people’s lives and help evaluate and help treat patients suffering from cancer. Oncologist specializes in the treatment of cancer patients and specialize with radiation, surgery, and medical treatments. Oncologist can give the individual treatment for this disease, but may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation biological therapy or participation in clinical trials. Some stereotypes for an oncologist are that oh what if the nurse/doctor don't give the right treatment also one stereotype is Chemotherapy doesn't cure people who why give them the treatment. As an Oncologist they have to be careful for what they give to the patient and how the nurse or doctor requires the medicines or treatments for what they have. According to News Medical Life Sciences online article, What is an Oncology, by Dr Ananya Mandal, MD states that “Oncologist have a several specific roles that help in diagnosis of the cancer, help in staging the cancer and grading the aggressive nature of cancer.” A misconceptions is that is cancer contagious. Individuals say that if a person that has cancer sneezes or coughs that it will spread to person to person but that is not true. The only way to get cancer from a person is that if you have an organ or tissue transplant. As an Oncologist, the salary is between $96,050-$342,081 a year. There’s different types of Oncologist, some are Pediatric oncologist, Hematologist-oncologist and medical oncologist.
Pediatric oncologist treats cancer in children because some types of cancer can occur most often in children and teenagers such as certain brain tumors and leukemia. Hematologist-oncologist diagnoses and treats blood cancer, such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Medical Oncologist are doctors who coordinates and oversees patient’s medical care. In an interview on Working Nurses by Keith Carlson she interviewed a Pediatric Oncologist named Shannon Martin, Shannon a RN, explains how “some challenges of working on this area is hard and how the nurses do it when a patient dies.” As Shannon states that “Pediatric oncology involves a great deal of patient and family education for example leukemia is approximately 85 percent curable with a three year process of taking medications. She also states that they deal with children and it's more often fun to take on the challenge, especially with teenagers. She says this because mostly childrens dont know what their nurses say but when it comes with teenagers their more fun because they actually have a conversation about their lives and friends they have or have had. As an Oncologist there are many sad times in this field such like telling people that their loved one is diagnosed with an untreatable cancer. At the other hand oncologist can also save lives. An oncologist need to get a bachelor's degree and a passing score on the Medical College
Exam. The term oncology means a branch of science that deals with tumors and cancers. Onco- means bulk, mass or tumor and -logy means study. As of today millions of people are living with cancer or have had cancer and didn't fought it. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States. According to The Truth about Cancer online article Cancer- Why Some get it Some don’t by Ty Bollinger states that cancer can happen to any person of any age and both genders must mostly occurs over the age of 55 years old. Oncologist have to begin a training program with a four year college. They are four stages of cancer one is that it's not spreaded throughout the body or nearby tissue. The second stage is a small tumor that has not grown in the tissue. The third and fourth one is that they have grown near your tissue. Lastly the last stage is that the cancer has spread throughout the body and all your organs. To get treated right away, it's better if the person who has cancer goes to the doctor if they are in stage third or fourth so he or she can get surgery right away so it won't affect them later in the future. In Conclusion, there’s a bunch of stereotypes and misconceptions about being an Oncologist some based on how the job is actually is and knowing the process of this disease, treatment and surgeries currently available. In our society right now, there is a bunch of stereotypes and misconception about a group or one single person just based off their looks and attitude. Stereotypes and misconceptions often come from social medias or any person making one to a person. As an oncologist, they will make you feel safe if you have cancer because everyone is the same person with or without cancer so live life to the fullest. Stereotypes is used to categorize a group of people that is based on truth but it is exaggerated. As in misconceptions is based on truth or an assumptions. Becoming an Oncologist in the future can have good and bad problems such like telling them that they are diagnosed and that they don't have cancer at all it can also be a very serious job for any person who takes things seriously.
