Pentagram: The Five Elements Of The Human Body

From the ancient Sumerian civilization we find the oldest known use of the word pentagram. They did not use this word to denote a spiritual symbol; they used it instead to mean a corner or angle. The oldest use of the word pentagram to designate a spiritual symbol is found in the 6th century BCE. Pherecydes of Syros used the term pentagram to explain the five recesses of the cosmology. Also during this time the word pentagram was used in the Far East to illustrate the five elements of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. In the late 6th century BCE, Pythagoras used the pentagram as a symbol of man. The ancient Greeks used the pentagram to represent the five elements of the human body: Earth (matter), Air (breath), Fire (energy), Water (fluids), and Aether (the psyche or soul).
The pentagram was associated with the upper part of the Tree of Life and represented the five books of the Torah. The pentagram was also a featured symbol on an ancient Jewish seal and represented the secret names of God. Furthermore, in early Christianity the pentagram was used as a symbol to represent the five wounds of Christ. In addition, it was believed that the star of Bethlehem was shaped as a pentagram. In addition, the pentagram was believed to be a protective symbol, and was more common than the cross symbol at this
