People Should Not Participate In Bull Riding

Have you ever been to the Rodeo? Have you seen the amazing cowboys riding and catching the stallions and bulls. The crowd sits in awe as the extraordinary cowboy stays on the bull even though the bull bucks and kicks all around. Bulls undergo harsh conditions, cruelty, and for the riders it can be deadly. People should not participate in bull riding. Cruelty to animals has been very looked down upon, but nobody realizes the pain the bull goes through. Bull riding isn’t really a nice ride. It can make the bull feel very scared. Imagine yourself being a bull. Having a tight flank around you and a one hundred and seventy pound man on top of you. That thought is a little scary. “The flank, or “bucking,” strap or rope is tightly strapped around the animals’ abdomens, which causes them to “buck vigorously to try to rid themselves of the torment”(Rodeo 2017). When the flank strap is paired with spurring, it causes the animals to buck even more violently, often resulting in serious injuries. Former animal control officers have found burrs and other cruel torture devices placed under the flank strap. In some cases, bulls have been drugged. A rider was suspended one time for drugging two steers. Many people believe Bull riding could be a new sport or the new nascar. This would be perfect for big bull riding
Dale Butterwick from the University of Calgary discovered that 49 fatal injuries from 1989 to 2009 lead to 21 deaths. Many have been wounded too. Bull riders take the risk of seriously injuring themselves. Dislocated elbows, broken bones and other injuries are a very real risk each time they enter the arena. Concussions are the most common major injury for bull riders. Bradie Gray is a perfect example on how bull riding can be seriously deadly.
