Colbert uses connotative language, for example, he uses gay stamps for town people who are not gays. Also, in the beginning of the video, when they showed a map of USA, big states (California, Florida) were gone, because there are a lot of people with different orientation. The satiric says “We lost our big cities to gays, now we are losing our small towns.” Humorous, loud, sarcastic language was used in this video. The author uses a lot of time a word “gay”, that everything is “gay” in the town; “American traditional values are under attack”, “when it comes to fight the gay agenda, we already lost our big cities” are metaphors. In the last scene the viewers can hear and see, that Colbert is disgusted. Colbert uses this word choice to show the audience what is the reason of destroying American values in emotional way. Also some design elements features contribute to the emotional imaginative appeal of the argument. He uses bright, red, white and blue colors to reflect the patriotism in America. The graphics and images are used to persuade the audience that America is being threatened by passing this ordinance
