As the piece comes out of the box the smell of cheap Pepto-Bismol spills out with it. On the gum is a fine white dust almost like cocaine. The dust fills every crack of his fingerprints. On it, fine lines are etched. The wrapper sounds like paper being balled up on a molecular level. He rolls it in his fingers for a second and stares at those fine cut lines, woodgrain almost. Those fine lines add texture and character to every piece, making each one unique to every other.
It can be molded like a piece of soft rubber. When he puts it in his mouth the saliva fills his mouth like a dam being broken. The first couple chews are hard but then it softens up.
