Perception Check Assignment
1. You made what you thought was an excellent suggestion to an instructor. The instructor looked uninterested but said she would check on the matter right away. Three weeks have passed and nothing has been changed.
First interpretation: The instructor has done as requested, but possibly it’s hung up somewhere higher up. There are specific rules and regulations matters have to go through.
Second interpretation: Maybe the instructor was just being kind and really didn’t find the matter as trivial as I did.
Request for clarification: I understand that you are busy, have you heard anything else about the issue I brought up or have a different perspective I may haven’t considered?
2. A neighbor and good friend has not responded to your “Good Morning” for three days in a row. This person is usually friendly.
First interpretation: Possibly my neighbor was putting on a good face and is sick of being friendly and the struggles of life have finally overcome them.
Second interpretation: Possibly my neighbor is just a very pessimistic person and my overly cheerfulness is too much for them.
Request for clarification: Hey neighbor I have brought some coffeecake over and was wondering if everything is all right?
3. You haven’t received the usual weekly phone call from the folks back home in over a month. The last time you spoke, you had an argument about where to spend the holidays.
First interpretation: Great the rents are still upset with me for suggesting to spend the holidays at another house.
Second interpretation: OH MY GOD! I hope everything is okay and they haven’t croaked? I would hope one of the neighbors would have called. Why hadn’t I bought that stupid life alert!
Request clarification: (assuming they live nearby) Call first, if no answer go over there. Once you have determined they haven’t died or fallen and couldn’t get up. Hey folks, if you were upset about not spending the holidays here you should have said something. Once they say that isn’t the

This represents the hope for the town of Perdido Beach. An instance of hope for Perdido beach was when Sam (one of the leaders of Perdido Beach) and some of his friends found the Lake Tramonto and they checked if it is fresh water and Sam said, There has been a lack of water in Perdido Beach for a copious amount of time. Lake Evian (the water source they used before) has been dropping dramatically. Because of the drop in the amount of water in the lake civilians get smaller portions of water. As a result of this situation people do very outlandish and brash things to get what they need. They are so thirty that they could drink their own urine (☺ Hyperbole). Perdido Beach is having a really tough time with everyone getting the virus. Drake is trying to kill everyone exists in the FAYZ, and individuals are trying to kill innocent people (Albert). With all of theses pressing issues, they can stop worrying about one thing, which is the lack of water because they found another…

The instructor interacted with students from asking questions to explain more in detail. The activity she provided was more lecturing and asking for feed back. Although, she did have them read silently and one student read for the whole class. Her lesson delivery was specific and content objectives were supported in using a web map. From the observation, the students appeared engaged but they sat for the entire segment, which could have been broken down by allowing different student to come to the board and write in the web-map. Another interaction the instructor did well was giving the student enough time to think about the question and respond.…

Once the pupils had gone for dinner I had a informal chat with the classroom teacher about each of the pupils. I showed her my notes and explained them in a bit more detail. During the meeting she also wrote notes of her own about each pupil. She asked me how I thought the lesson had gone and what I would improve. I thought the lesson went well but I did say that more of the pupils should of got the chance to plant the seeds. I also gave my opinion on one of the pupils. I said I think that pupil A needed extra help in all lesson because they were struggling with simple task. This pupil A is someone I work with each day I am there. I also suggested that the teacher watch this pupil or work with them in one lesson and check if am right about them struggling. During this meeting I…

The student was quite ill for most of the session and her instructor took the time to read her emails and respond quickly. When the student was in so much pain she was unable to get her individual project in on time the instructor was kind enough not to take any points off of the project. The student assumes this is because she was honest with the instructor and asked for permission to turn in the project late. The student had many issues with the discussion board during this session. She has never had so many problems posting to the discussion board and the instructor was kind enough to let it slide, so to speak. The student went back into the board area for this final individual project and realized that she missed two times that others replied to her discussion board. It has been her experience since she began her work here at Colorado Technical University that she rarely gets feedback in discussion boards even though she works diligently to make sure that she replies to the required amount of peers. She is not sure what the problem might be, she always feels she makes a valid discussion and tries to critique her peers responses as fairly as possible. She does feel sometimes that she might intimidate some of her classmates, therefore, they rarely respond to her posts. She knows, again, through experience, not only in this class but her previous classes…

The topic I chose to do my term paper on is Perception Checking. When using perception checking in the correct way, it can and will be a great tool that will help us communicate with each other. Social perception checking is the ability to understand someone else in your social group and others around you. When using the other source of perception checking, empathy, we come to have a clear understanding of most individuals that are being dealt with starting with the reason for their behavior and where this behavior is coming from.…

Through the words of Johnetta Cole “if you really know yourself, if you believe in who you are, it’s amazing how much criticism you can withstand”. Everyone in his or her lifetime has experienced criticism that has impacted their life in such a manner that has shaped their lives, for students in high school and college it’s an everyday occurrence. Student’s experiences in education should not be influenced based on where they come from financially, how they are perceived academically, and if they choose to pursue a higher education.…
