Perfect Pets
For three generations the Patterson family have been producing dairy products from their finest bred cattle. As well as their fine dairy products, they have a veterinary practice. The dairy side of the business is managed by Peter Patterson and the veterinary practice is managed by his brother Paul. Both aspects, dairy and veterinary, work under the business name of Perfect Pets belonging to the Patterson bothers.

They are a major employer in the local community by employing members of their respective families and local community. Their product and services are of the highest standard and are readily sought after by local dairies and the veterinary services by local farmers and members of the community, seeking expert advice on smaller

The business is mainly run by the extended family with additional assistance being sourced from with the local community.

With the agreement of the two brothers, Peter has decided that he will hand over the running and overall management of the farming business to his son Patrick.

Peter oversees the running of the farm. As a manager of the farming aspect, he would control staff management and schedule the farming activities such as ensuring that the cattle are being given the correct treatment and making sure they each produce the maximum quantities of milk. He and his wife Anne administer the day to day running of the dairy farm and he is assisted at this moment in time by his son Patrick. Peter has to certify that the farm has sufficient stock and the date he will have to order supplies for the farm. Invoicing, receipts and payments are crucial within the business to ensure that the business is running to its full potential. The administrative system is a part of the business that cannot be miscalculated. As stated previously he qualified as a veterinary surgeon, which was an enormous added bonus to the family and its business. The veterinary practice is within farm location, covering a local town and two villages. The practice is overstretched due to high demands for veterinary services in the area. As a result of the businesses expansion, Paul’s two daughters were employed in 2003.
