It was also found in the lead member interview that there is currently no training on safety protocols and procedures at all for temporary staffing member. Temporary staffing agencies are not allowed to go hands on with the children, meaning they cannot use holding restraints in the event of a crisis. They can only verbally deescalate the situation which is not always an ideal solution, especially when there is paraphernalia brought into the school. It was found there was a set standing for qualifications for the job; permanent members must possess a bachelor’s degree in some type of helping field (ex. Human Services, Special Education, Behavioral Science, etc.). There was a consistency that all permanent staffing members did not feel that all staff members were trained equally on safety protocols and policies.
