The part of being a technician that interests me the most is trying to get the slightest idea of how a simple ray can transmit through the body without harm and come out with a picture. In order to meet the educational requirements, all of the criteria classes need to be met. Typically is takes two years and then two years of clinical after you get in the radiology program. Radiology technicians must also be licensed in most states by passing an exam from The American Registry of Radiologist Technologist (Bureau of Statistics). The upper division classes are internships and clinical practice. These give a potential candidate hands on experience, while learning lab and people skills at the same time. I personally plan to meet all of these requirements by doing my best in classes and taking classes that might not be mandatory to make myself better in the end. I started to prepare myself in high school by taking four years of science and three years of math. All of the BRAVO outcomes mentioned by Austin Peay will also help me in my career. The acronyms for values and outcomes really stand out to me. I need to remember my morals and values when it comes to the patient/doctor code of confidentially. Hospitals will still house many of the job opportunities, but new imaging testing centers will also play a role. Beyond this job, there is the possibility of nuclear technologists, radiation therapists, or sonographers. The opportunities are endless, including going back to school. You will not only be learning in school, but constantly everyday in this job. One of the newest trends in radiology is the hybrid technology. It is a faster, new digitization that “will increase productivity, enhance efficiency and help control the cost of care” (Morrison). Before we know it the proficient technology will diagnose diseases before they get out of hand.
