If I have the opportunity to travel back through time. I would like to stop at the Vietnam War era. When I was young, I didn’t obtain anything my history teacher lectured. I just learned to get over with it and not comprehend any information. Not until I came to the United States and started to learn about my country's history. By that time, I was old enough to understand what this war was about and how many innocent lives have been sacrificed. This topic has attracted all my interest. I spent a day researching it. The man describes his journey to the United States by going on a boat across the ocean. He was only 12 years old at the time he left his country. He determined to getaway from Vietnam with the hope of a better future due to the fact the South has turned into communist after the war. He sold everything and use that money to buy a spot on the boat that could lead to anywhere but Vietnam. Once in the boat, they packed everyone tightly together like sardine and left with a tiny space that can hardly move. And if someone got a seasick or need to use the restroom then it all happen at where they stay. Their future was vague; everything was so unclear. They float on the ocean for about a month with the hope of getting saved by the foreign marines. On top of it, he also mentioned about the Thai pirates and you do not wish to encounter them. Regrettably, his boat spotted by those pirates, they went on it and robbed everything of those people. Women got raped and man got beat up to death. As a child, he have to witness this brutal scene. Miraculously, the lone survivors and another guy survived by disguised as death people among those death victim. On the boat for many days, he finally get rescued by an American ship. And start a new life in the United
