Personal Mandala Symbolism

A mandala, or a diagram displaying a representation of the characteristics of a subject on one side and the other side describing its opposite, metaphorically symbolizes an object through various categories. Instead of writing to show who I am in the mandala, I drew pictures of sun words in the mandala to represent me, and on the other side, I depicted the opposite by drawing shadow words. Each object symbolizes a specific characteristic that all together define who I am. Symbolism is an important factor in a mandala because each figure is a representation of words that contain several layers of meaning. In various ways, my characteristics can be represented in a personal mandala through symbols of an animal, a plant, a color, a number, weather, a shape, and a phenomenon. Using symbols of the natural world, my characteristics of being fast and strong can be symbolized through an animal and a plant. First, I used a cheetah to represent myself because of my speed. Both mentally and physically I am faster because I think and act quick. For example, I play basketball and it is important for me to be alert and make decisions quickly. I believe the color yellow represents me because of my optimism and brightness. I think this shows how I act and behave generally. Next, I chose the number, one to represent me because all numbers are divisible by one. In other words, I am a very independent person, I like to work solely, and I normally make choices specifically based on what I feel is right. Then, I chose a square to represent me as a shape because of its sturdiness and that all of its sides are equal.
