I had kept the cottage on the hill in sight all night and can sense there are two humans in the dwelling. The sun started to rise and the darkness faded, an older human female leaves the dwelling. She gets into a small car and drives down the road towards town.…
This report is based on the book Thunder Rides a Black Horse written by Claire R. Farrer. This book is written in context of an indian group called the Mescalero Apache Indians. Their reservation and ceremonial grounds are based in the south-central part of New Mexico. The author is very familiar with this tribe as she claims to be like family with some of the members. She writes this book based on her visit to join in on one of their big traditions. It is called the puberty ceremonials. These ceremonies are where the young girls of the tribe are traditionally accepted as women into their society. The Mescalero Apache Indians still use a lot of their old traditions and still believe in their old myths. Bernard, who was a dear friend of the author told many stories revolving the the ancient ways of the Mescalero Apache tribe. As in their creation, their ways of live, and even their traditions.…

How an individual looks at life makes all the difference in how it will turn out. In the story, "Horses of the Night," by Margaret Laurence, a young and innocent narrator, Vanessa, befriends the much older Chris, who deals with his problems by hiding in his own fantasy world. Chris and Vanessa are character-foils of each other, and their perspectives are represented accordingly. Vanessa's perspective keeps her grounded to reality, and Chris's is a very negative force in his life. Laurence shows that the abnormal perspective that Chris holds has very tragic consequences.…

As I stepped into the mud colored cattle car, just the sight of it had made me wince. As I entered, it was like the other passengers were staring at me with shame, since if you were in the cattle car you had to of done something bad. I quickly put my head down. I could just feel the sticky wretched smell of feces and body odor in the car. My mother and I put our suitcases on the shelves, heaving them with all our strength to the very top shelf. We waited hours for in the dark, crammed, and smelly car before we started moving.…
What were Equiano’s impression of the white men on the ship and their treatment of the slaves? How does this treatment reflect the slave traders’ concerns?…
In All the Pretty Horses, McCarthy uses the theme of journeys to relay the message that life is not only a physical journey, but there are emotional journeys through life also.…
Hello I am Kiowa’s lieutenant from the Alpha Company, I would like to give some background information about me to you guys. I am a sophomore in college and I had joined up for the Reserve Officer Training Corps because it was worth a few credits and few of my friends had joined, making me want to join. In all honesty I do not care about this war and I have no desire on becoming a team leader but I have ended up as the leader of Kiowa and his friends. I am insecure about the decisions I would make, leading me to make two of my soldier’s death. The first death would be a soldier named Ted Lavender. Instead of focusing on my men I focus on a girl who I deeply love and the fact that I care more about my love more than my men makes me and unworthy…
That is amazing! I can honestly say a fish tank was not of high worry for me when it comes to things being hacked. I, like most people, think of my cellphone, tablet, and computer, of being hacked compared to my appliances (which non of them are smart so I am hopefully safe there). It's amazing how someone in another state or even country can access almost everything I own. A gentleman named Thomas Hatley, was awoken one morning by someone stating, "I can see all of the devices in your home and I think I can control them” (Hill, 2013). This stranger proceeded to prove to Thomas what she could do by turning his lights on and off. This man seemed astounded by the possibilities. It's amazing to me that some individuals still don't understand the…
Ginger is a hazelnut colored horse, she has an attitude, she has had many owners that treated her like nothing, and that’s why she is so sour around people until James (the groom at Birtwick park). Ginger had a connection with Black Beauty and loved him. Ginger was a violent, mean horse with a wild temper, she bit and kicked many of her owners and never felt love. She was, you could say a hard nut to crack until she realized that James and Beauty only wanted to be her friend. She bit James once; he didn’t hit or whip her, he gave her a warm mash and talk to her with kind and patient words, that was the last time she bit him.…
How could one unified country suddenly become so split apart? Every day I wonder what life I would lead if I was not forced to work in the heat of the South. Although factory work in the North would still be rigorous like the farming in the South, African Americans there are not treated as things, but people. In the North, I would not be frightened at the thought of being caught and tortured or killed if I tried to move to another place. I do not know if there will ever be a time when I would be able to be free because the North and South depend on each other for goods. If slavery is abolished, would the plantation owners in the South work to give the North crops? The Southern crops are needed to make the final products that are produced in…
If you were told you could be anything in the world what would you do? Would you be a firefighter, a nurse, a engineer, or maybe a graphic designer. Have you ever thought about doing something outside of the box? What if your job was something that could cause stress but in the end of the day you wouldn't choose anything else. Being an equine trainer requires you to teach horses to respond to commands, prepare them for competitions, make sure they are in good health, and that they are well groomed and in top physical shape: however for all the work you do the pay is not the best. This job is not fit for everybody because of the stress that can come with it but many people in this industry can not even imagine doing something else. Being a…
This short story is a part of a book written by William Saroyan that centers on Aram, a nine-year-old boy from the Garoghlanian family. The Garoghlanian family is a tribe of Armenian descent that has immigrated to California. In this tribe they value honesty above all else “most important of all, though, we were famous four our honesty” (p.160). Aram and his cousin Mourad went on an adventure during a summer season; it emphasized the tribe’s behavior which ran on their own sense of morality but not according to the laws of society. In this story, Saroyan brought out the theme redemption through action. In other words, redeeming or restoring the Garoghlanian family’s name through a kind act. This story also shows how in the Garoghlanian family, material wealth is not important to the tribe members. What’s important is being true to one self and to the family and it is what makes a man good.…
