Everything changed at end of the year and my dreams were crushed. Some majors at my school were very competitive and hard to get into. At the end of freshman year everyone got to pick their top three majors. Placements into majors were chosen by grades, and overall student involvement.
I was a very good student and had good grades, but I didn’t get placed into Large Animal Science. My year’s competition was very high for Animal Science Majors. I got placed into Arboriculture, and to be honest I wasn’t too thrilled at all. Arboriculture if you didn’t know is an industry focused on both the care and removal of trees. The program covered tree identification, chainsaw use and safety, machine operation, and tree climbing. Which, may sound like fun but I couldn’t picture myself doing it for a living.
